Repeating my question from the end of the previous thread (>>59672273).

Does anyone here have experience cleaning contacts on the unicomp model M? (if that's even possible) My spacebar stopped registering after about 3 years of heavy use.

you don't need to, use taobaotrends, or similar agencies, they will order it and send it to you for a small fee

I'm so worried about this. I've read other places that they have a problem with this. I have a Pok3r with brown switches that I've been waiting months for. If I get the wrong one I'm going to kill myself.
>>
>>59674696
It's not really a big problem this time. They had mislabelled bags for a certain keycap kit. But they're sending the correct ones.

It's the first time I've had a mistake from MassDrop too be honest. There have been problems before by Signature Plastics but that's out of MDs hands imo

I bought it all from an German vender and they only have the normal TADA68 and the aluminum case as a separate puchase. In Germany import taxes can be a pain in the ass so I chose to pay a few bucks more to go the save route.

you can ask the agents to ask for whatever colored switches you want
also the standard case is black, but if the seller offers different colors, you can tell the agents to ask for either of those colors
basically, just speak with the agents, they can speak english and will give you photos of the items they got before sending it to you
>>
Why do my keys feel sticky?
>>
>>59676945
i'm not sure if I understand what you mean by agents, i'm looking at the taobao listing, are these sold through agents?
>>
>>59677206
No
Taobao sellers generally only speak chinese and ship to asia, so you buy through agents who specialized for taobao like taobaotrends or taobao focus. They buy from the seller and ship the item to you
>>
>Budget
$70, or cheaper if I can get away with it.

>Location
USA

>Preferred switch type
Brown

>Layout
ANSI

>Form factor
Tenkeyless preferred.

>Backlight
Low-key backlighting is nice, but I'm not a fan of the GAMER overstated kind.

>Previous/current keyboards
Currently on a cheap membrane keyboard. Previously I was using a Corsair Vengeance K65, with MX Red keys for three months. Hated how easy it was to press a key by accident, and how lightly I had to type to avoid bottoming out.

I think browns would be ideal because I don't want it to be loud, and clears appear to be too rare in low price ranges.

https://smile.amazon.com/Velocifire-Tenkeyless-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switches/dp/B01MS8YTYX?sa-no-redirect=1

How bad could this be? Anyone have experiance with cheap keyboards like this? Surely it has to be better than my $7 membrane keyboard.

I'd appreciate any other recommendations as well.

The softer edges feels better on your fingers, and the bigger surface area means more room for your fingers on each key. Since all the keys are not a curved shape and more of a step shape I tend to not catch my fingers on the edge of keys since it's all the same height.

It feels very different, but I find it more comfortable.

Leopold if you don't mind the blank space on the right and want to find custom keycaps maybe a bit easier (even though it also has a non standard key), TADA68 if you want a couple extra keys, and either don't plan on getting new keycaps or don't mind being a bit more limited on sets you can use.
The TADA68 is also cheaper and comes with superior Gateron switches.

Portability is subjective.. If 60% is small enough, then a Pok3r or V60 would be fine. If you want to go smaller (I would, personally) then you're looking at 40%.

For a 40%, if you want something relatively inexpensive then check out the Golbat or MechMini, both are usually available as kits so you can build them as you wish.

Pic related 40% vs 60%. 40's are really good for connecting to a tablet, for instance, and using on the fly.

GUYS

i was sitting here admiring my noppoo choc mini, and thinking that this has got to be the sexiest layout ever (for me), and the only real drawback is the non-standard 5.5u spacebar (maybe dual 2.75 keys in place of the spacebar would be better), so i googled 5.5u spacebar and i found these:

https://shop.kbdfans.cn/products/pbt-doubleshot-keycaps
http://kbdfans.cn/?p=509
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/double-shot-pbt-keycap-cherry-profile-rainbow-cap-for-mx-usb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-5-5/32799680240.html

they have the 5.5u spacebar AND the 1.75u right shift AND the right hand side pgup/pgdn/end/del keys! how cool is that!

i'm still very happy with my stock keycaps but i thought this was really cool and i'm considering to buy a set.

do you know anything about KBDfans? how is their quality?

I don't know, what self-respecting person would buy a "glorious PC gaming race" product?
>>

If you can ignore the branding they do actually make quality products from what I've heard. It's just about how much you care about how things look.

Mine is similar and I honestly don't see the relation between WPM and wanting nicer keyboards.

>>59699267
It's also a fullsize, so that's another reason to avoid it.

It's also $100. If one really wants a fullsize gateron keyboard, then there's the Plum 104 for $99 w/ free shipping on mechanicalkeyboards.com

You also get to keep your dignity.

was tempted by these but I need Tsangan, Ergo etc sets too. As nice as it is, I don't need another 60%+ just now
