Hacking mostly leverages solid understanding of the context, time, practice, and tools. For example if I want to do some script kiddy wifi hacking:
- Understanding: I know there is a handshake between my computer and the router that involves some important encrypted data like the password
- Practice: I have sat down in my own home to learn and use this skills on my own router so I'm not attempting it the first time in the wild
- Time: Nothing ever works the first time so I need to be able to sit down and hammer away on this problem. It's not just a flurry of typing
- Tools: wireshark, john the ripper, etc. These are all essential tools I need to acomplish my goal regardless of my knowledge
I suggest starting with understanding; do some actual reading, watch online lectures etc. Then start getting some actual practice in with the necessary tools. You'll get there eventually
