Is it worth using in the year 2017?

Operating systems are tools, which are good at different things. Whether or not it's worth using depends entirely on your use case.
get education no spy memes and no cortana

Only in a VM for video games. There are no other uses for it since most CAD and video/photo editing software runs fine in PlayOnLinux or in an OS X VM. Windows is dogshit for doing any real work and even Microsoft knows it, which is why they're desperately trying to turn Windows 10 into GNU/NT. If Linux is so bad, why did they implement a Ubuntu subsystem? Lol, winfags always lose.

Does this meme actually work for you? I tried this once and apart from eating six hours of my life, it ran at 40fps in Deus Ex Human Revolution on a GTX 970 (and comparably poorly on everything else) many games wouldn't even start, or would only run at 1fps.

I set it up in VirtualBox. I gave the machine 3/4 cores, 10/16GBs of RAM, and the whole eGPU since I'm doing it on a laptop. It worked great after tweaking a few settings.

Anon, stop being a retard, please.
WSL is implemented for an easy access to a Unix environment and a better versatility for developers as a result.
Not understanding this says a lot about you.

Ok microshill.
>working on win 10
>forced restart pops up while im hitting return key for next line
>restarts without saving any work
>bootup sponsors play
>mountain dew ad plays after login
Now watch like clockwork as the shills try to tell you I'm lying
how many of you have lost sight of the fucking scroll bar?
It's so difficult to make it a little more black than the background??

>forced restart

Anon. Anon, stop. Not only Win10 telegraphs it has a restart scheduled several hours prior to doing that restart, not only it allows you to specify a time interval for these scheduled restarts manually, not only it gives you a giant notification all over your screen and an about 15-seconds delay to save all your shit if a restart was started not by you manually clicking the restart button - automatic updates can be disabled altogether in 4 mouse clicks.
Not being able to do even that AND working in some kind of shit that "loses all work on restart" says about you even more.

red stone update is comfy.
