Which OS is your main OS for developing and programming? Why?

Wind Blows for gamedev and Debian for everything else. I'd use Debian for gamedev too if it had any compatible engines or frameworks that weren't shit.
Developing on windows ia a chore, GNU/Linux makes development a lot easier.
Windows.
When I tried Linux I spent a lot of time searching how to get my Windows choice software to work or emulate in linux.
Ubuntu with Openbox. Really slim.
Linux, because I'm going to live a life without regrets
Arch with i3. Very fast, very stable. And a lot more convenient than when I was using Windows.
Pic related is my typical workflow (uni projects)
Atom on the left for programming, a terminal on the right for compiling, debugging, or whatever else. Very simple and efficient.

I should add that what makes i3 the ideal choice for me is no wasted space. No task bars or start menus to get in the way. I even disabled the program title bars because that extra space is nice.

is there a cursor in i3?
Just curious because it would be easier to use a cursor to skim more lines of code

Why do I see i3 recommended so much more than awesome?
After having used both j can say that the preset layouts awesome has is much better than how he manages windows, and it's especially useful that you can toggle each workspace to be floating, unlike with i3.

Yes there is a cursor.
Gnu/Linux
just my Arch laptop really,
Linux is just really good for the coding I do, which is mainly Ruby, Lua, Python, JS and a bit of C
sure I could some wintel tech but Linux is where I feel most comfy.

I haven't used Awesome, so I can't say which is better
but I should add that you can toggle each program to be floating in i3, which is the only thing I've ever needed. Can't say I've ever needed to make an entire workspace toggle to floating mode, I don't see how that would benefit me at all.
>>59664128
I think it is because i3 is easier to configure.
>>59664180
Awesome lets you do both.
It just gives more options in general, but if i3 works best for you then keep using our. By no means is it a bad wm.
