Try to install windows 7 anyway. Intel and AMD still provide windows 7 graphics drivers, the stock audio driver is good enough in most cases, and you can probably find a windows 7 variant driver of your wifi adapter.

I highly recommend getting windows 7 SP1, i stalling "SP2", and downloading all the important updates for max compatibility.
