Greetings /g/entooman,
I have a 13 inch late 2006 Macbook (black)
Goal is to dual boot loonix on the lappy,
any recommendations for a distro coming from a linux naive person? Ubuntu is too plebeian for me, I'd like something that focuses heavily on the command line.
I already attempted to install Kali to no avail (tried everything),
so I already have Refind on the machine.
I'd like to get down and dirty with it so I'm wondering if I could Install Gentoo as per the frequent recommendation, or if Arch Linux would also be an option.
Thanks in advance for your time and response.

I'd humbly suggest windows xp.

If it has broadcom wireless then just forget it. There's not a single distro that can handle it because of the shit broadcom-wl drivers. You can only connect for about a minute, get dropped, manually connect again, get dropped, etc...

Linux Torvalds himself used OpenSUSE and Fedora on a Macbook for a long time. He may still be using OpenSUSE. He used Fedora before that. Pic related is his Macbook running Fedora.

?
I use broadcom-wl on Arch GNU. It took me a while to get connected when I first installed, but I haven't had any issues with it since.
