Im in the market for building a new rig, currently using one i built back in 2010. I thought I could simply buy a gpu to increase my frames in games so i bought an rx470 and found my performance in games is still shit. So, now that I am about to build a new pc, i was wondering if it would be worth it running a second 470 in crossfire versus selling it on ebay and getting a 1070, which would undoubtedly lose me money. I was also wondering what specifications I should look for in a motherboard, or what makes one better than another. Im trying to maximize performance so I don't want to spend where its not needed.
Thanks
Looking up fps benchmarks shows that its only a few fps behind the 1070

Yeah honestly thats like hammering yourself in the dick. multigpu only makes sense for rich fucks who need more than the top end card will give.

wait for ryzen 5 in a few weeks

Get the Ryzen 1400 (or 1500x if you want) and a compatible motherboard.
Ditch that rx, get a 1060. Or do a rx480 but AMD+AMD worries me.

Drop a Rx for a 1060? 1060 is only good for DX11 games. I'm pretty sure he will be buying the newer DX12 games.

5% better performance in dx12 vs better performance in 99.9999% of all games ever released.
Really activates my almonds.

It'll be fine. He's not looking to spend a lot he said. 1060 or rx480 is the best bang for buck but AMD+AMD worries me.
