It's been a while and I haven't seen any threads about this.
Should we be concerned?
I don't like the new icon

The Vault7 leaks mentioned "breaking signal" (even though that wasn't what was being done) and paranoid retards who don't understand technology (i.e., /g/) no longer trust them
That's really all there is to say, now on to the usual "what open source VPN service can I use for free"

I still trust signal and I reckon most people who were using it do too, the point is why would they change a perfectly good icon to another perfectly good icon (which excludes the traditional symbol of security) with no explanation. The vault7 leaks were to do with covertly compromising systems and moxie would (hopefully) just announce that there had been a vulnerability discovered by a three letter organisation who were ̶i̶n̶c̶o̶m̶p̶e̶t̶e̶n̶t̶ kind enough to leak everything to the public and as such it had been patched earlier that morning.
That's what I want to discuss; could this be a canary, not if some shity organisation has cracked the protocol.

probably because it looks better and is more obviously "chat" and not just some weird abstraction with a hole in the middle (btw: "the traditional symbol of security"? wtf does that even mean?)

BOTNET!

Why should we be concerned? Still one of the best messaging apps out there IMO.

The leaks pointed out clearly that signal was broken because they'd broken android.
