Hey guys, I currently use Ubuntu, but I wanted to switch to a distro using xfce. Should I get linux mint xfce or xubuntu and why?
install gentoo
install obsd
install arch
I was thinking of going with arch, but I want to get a little more experience with GNU/linux before taking that on

Try Manjaro, it has XFCE by default and you'll see what Arch is like, kind of.
Xubuntu is better than Mint XFCE in my opinion.
ChaletOS uses XFCE and comes with hundreds of themes, it's great. It's based on Ubuntu.
Antergos and Manjaro are two arch-based distros that come with XFCE. Both are good, but Antergos is better in my opinion.

Xubuntu's styling is very nice, but I personally had performance issues. Also, ubuntu's repos are subpar I've never had a single ubuntu installation that lasted more than a couple months without package conflicts from the official repos.
I'm running debian unstable now (actually is more stable than ubuntu), with the Greybird themes to make it look like Xubuntu. Best of both worlds.

I've been considering switching from Xubuntu to Debian, but I can never get it to look "just right" compared to Xubuntu, something always seems off, even with the Greybird theme.
What am I doing wrong?

The font's "wider" in Debian, that could be it
"Settings -> Window Manager" will let you change it

I started using Linux for the first time about a month ago with Linux Mint and I just got Arch set up over the weekend. You'll have no problem as long as you read the wiki. It's really not as difficult as people make it out to be.
