Packages include encryption and no data records
>>

I expect if this Bill passes we'll all be paying a premium for privacy, or at least the illusion of privacy.
>>
>>59604475
And you get put on a list and watched anyway
>>
Would you an ISP offered VPN, /g/?
>>
I work for Time Warner and we had the meeting today. They are going to offer the packages in the spring of 2018. It won't be a VPN. They are going to buy special encrypted servers for the new packages. Comcast is also coming up with some packages to hide peoples browsing history. Privacy will be a competition. Who ever can hide it the best will win customer loyalty.
>>
>>59604694
I don't understand how the internet works: The Post
>>
>>59604694
What are they going to do about copyright trolls and giving in to subpoenas for customer information
>>
>>59604475
The US can go fuck itself. I don't live there, but they set a precedent, UKucked will follw, and then all of Europe.
>>
>>59604694
time warner and charter merged or something as "spectrum" i think brighthouse too? all those previous customers getting this shit or what
>>
>>59604744

It is all superficial. The customers think that someone is spying on them looking at porn or stalking people on Facebook. That part will be hidden.
>>
>>59604777
Didn't they ban porn over there
>>
>>59604501
What bill? The one that is repealing an act made 3 months ago?
>>
>>59604777
>then all of Europe

Not all of them. Some countries in Europe have tenacious privacy laws that even the EU can't get at.
>>
>>59604814
Nope, if you are referring to the US.
>>
>>59604806
Sounds about right
>>
>>59604826
No, the UK. The no spanking, pissing, any "" porn etc
>>
>>59604847
*"fetish"
>>
>>59604475
>encryption
What does that even mean? HTTPS is an end-to-end encryption protocol between your browser and a web server that has nothing to do with the network you're using. Are people really stupid enough to pay their ISP for a "service" that does absolutely nothing?
>>
>Time Warner Cable

Seeing as how they don't even exist anymore, this is obviously bullshit. Kill yourself, you fucking retard.
>>
You would have to trust them I'm order to even consider this and by them selling it they are saying they are not trust worthy. If it's life and death never trust a company and if it's not how important can your privacy really be? Being able to be truly anonymous on the Internet is a valuable and pretty rare skill otherwise everyone would be carding their assess off. If the illusion of privacy is important to you a VPN will suffice but nothing will stop a state level adversarry.

Not an american but I'd say it's free market at work and a good idea.

Question is how reliable will be their "we swear we don't log data and we absolutely dont' put you on the watchlist for requesting this feature".

Last week I was renewing my phone contract and was approached by the offer of paying additional €1 a month to not receive any text messages from the provider that aren't directly relevant to my contract. Needless to say I asked for it without hestitation.

Paid subscription as an alternative to ads is good.
If I can't be bothered to pay for subscription your content simply wasn't relevant to me enough.

The second market recognises privacy as a product you can make money on will be the second that the botnet dies.
Imagine CPU manufacturers marketing the ability of shutting down Intel ME/AMD PSP features as a selling point of their products.

I'd pay for that.
>>
>>59604922
As much as I hate it I would rather pay for privacy than see the whole notion of it die.

>it's free market at work

After an initial "wtf how did it come to this", you buy it and get put on a watch list. Or, more likely, they have another backdoor anyways

>paying additional €1 a month to not receive any text messages from the provider
Or you could stop being a cuck and just block those texts.

The free market also recognizes botnet as a market.
And guess who can pay more, you or the government?

Le free market only works when everyone is on equal financial standing. The moment the capital consolidates to the point where a single entity owns the majority, said entity can control the market to the point where the system becomes a de facto autocracy.

Do you think you're safe from the big brother bullshit? Think again, friend

I don't. I don't close the door when I jack off to my sister's nudes either.
