Serial diodes are a bad idea.
Only needs one to be leakier than the other and the PD will divide diffferently, perhaps fatally for the "good" diode.

it also serves a good purpose of putting my old computer parts to good use since they might not be good for triple a gaymen, rendering, or recording but it can still be put to good use

all are x16 slots. it is on nf200 instead of native but see no differences in benches. Did this because R9 390*c @ 1100mhz 24/7 clock, runs at 80+c fully loaded. This gives it a little more room between the backpate/griddle and the HSF. cpu temp is the same at lower fan speeds. Not that I can hear it over the GPU fan

specs are shit but is was under $600 from the old i3 2100/6850 to this with an old syncmaster x1600, storage drives are from a broken laptop and an external popped out of the case. good enough for me.

GPU doesn't get about 65-70C under load, and the CPU gets to maybe 60C and that's only on a mediocre HyperT4. I guess that's " housefire" tier, but since I'm overclocking both to the highest I can possibly push them, I think it's not too shabby.

Ill take a look tonight when im on the PC , but im pretty sure i got a screenshot of my 2500k @4.8ghz and it reach 130gflops.

Have you Bench the difference btw stock and OC ?
>>
>>59622738
not yet, but i'll see

but first i gotta know if that 4.8GHz is stable on Rainbow Six Siege (the one game i have installed that can cause BSOD if it's not enough volts)
>>
>>59622785
Try IBT with 20 Lines at very high!
its usually what Ill do when i dont feel like letting prime95 run for 12h.

Also in that 4.8ghz screenshot , were you running anything else in the background ?

Even speccy can lower the gflops result

i'll simply Say that both side offer good options. I guess air coolers are often cheaper but also often noisier.
In both case , your fan Choice Will impact noise and performance.
After that we could talk about aesthetic
A lot of poeple seems to like the AIO look instead of the big bulky air coolers. The dark pro air coolers is réally good looking tho. Other people simply cant stand the Idea of having water inside their pc. It really is a personnal choice. I personnally had 2 AIO so far , never leaked and never Heard any pump rattle!

Don't bother, it won't help. The Hyper 212 EVO isn't large or dense enough for a second fan to have any noteworthy effect on temperatures.

What you need is more surface area, be it in the form of air or water cooling.

Yes, it would be a better option by far. If you buy it for your current build, you'll have it for your next build too.
Noctua is very good at supporting their coolers through socket changes, so there isn't really any reason to hold off on it until your next build. That aside, NH-D15 is HUGE, so do make sure that your case has enough clearance before getting it.

Is that Define S with a Kelvin cooler?

I really want to get that combi but I want to put the rad in the front and people convinced me that it was impossible unless I changed the tubes myself.

Just looking at this pic I'm assuming this true right?

Also how is that Kelvin cooler, I can pick them up for 100 euros but I can also get a NHD15 for a little less.
>>
>>59635243
Really?

I haven't done any research in it, which I am going to today.

>>59635252
Yes, it's that combo.

I think I read something in the manual about not being able to put the 360 radiator in the front. But now that I think of it, it should work. I got 3x 140mm fans there after all.
The issue would be the length of the tubes, but as you can see, they reach from the top. Might be that extra centimeter that makes it unable to reach if you go from the front though.

Can't really unscrew everything easily to test it out for you.

The cooler itself is performing well, I went for the big one since I can go lower rpm for lower noise level.
I hadn't used a cooler like this before, I expected it to be quiet. But the pump is quite loud, it has that high frequency noise.
You'd have a more quiet setup with the NHD15.

I've got like a really shitty Cooler Master AIO cooler which was like 60 bucks 2 or 3 years ago, and I kind of like the aesthetic watercoolers give of.

I wanted tot go like double 360 rads, with the kelvin cooler for the CPU but a lot of people are telling me that the noctua cooler would be more quiet, cheaper as well as cool better ><

The Define S is almost 100% the next upgrade for my pc, recently got a 40 bucks case from Bitfenix but the Define case just looks so god damn good. Especially builds like these.

You managed to buy a case made specifically for custom watercooling and put air cooling in it.
Then you contradict yourself by choosing a Noctua heatsink, which shows you don't care about aesthetics since you could have gotten a black one like Dark Rock Pro 3. At the same time you show that you do care by painting your graphics card's shroud (which, for the record, appears to be nicely done. Good on you for that).
You could also easily have gotten some aesthetically pleasing fans on that heatsink, but you chose the ugliest old and shitty Corsair ones you could find.

I honestly can't tell what you're trying to do with this build. It's like a confusing mess of "I don't know what the fuck I want". Do you want water or air, do you care about aesthetics or not ?

No AIO but the Swiftec X220 has ever come even close to their performance, but even the X220 falls way behind in acoustics in comparison. Fractal cases look stupid sexy with massive heatsinks in them, gives me a boner every time.

Is AIO cooling a meme? Ive just built a new rig primarily for gaming running an i5 7600k (it was on sale and i dont have unlimoted disposable ausbux). I was considering giving overclocking a go since it seems fairly easy using my boards bios. My temps seem to fluctuate between 30-40C at idle with a hyper 212. Should i bother?
I think the biggest issue is the case fans are inadequate so ive ordered 2 140mms for intake.
>>
>>59647561
i don't know if that case does, but most silverstone mitx cases force you to use sfx or sfx-l power supplies.

also, in that case he can only use low profile coolers. a decent low profile cooler isn't much cheaper, if at all, than a 120mm closed loop cooler, and certainly not better.
>>
>>59647561
It's the only cooler better than stock that fit in my case. The locked i5 was cheaper and I don't plan on over clocking, although you actually can on z170 motherboards. The PSU wasn't overpriced.
>>
>>59647912
If you have an AIO no it isn't a meme

>>
>>59648170
I had many AIO's, they are a shitty meme
I had many AIO's and I'm knowledgeable on cooling, they are a shitty meme
I had many AIO's and I'm not self conscious that other people do different things with their money and have different goals, but AIO's are still shitty memes.

They are loud as fuck, offer only meh-tier cooling, usually staying hotter than mediocre & always cheaper air coolers while offering no cooling for VRM's etc. components near the CPU socket area and holy shit pump failures are a thing, who would've thought.

Stay the fuck off AIO's unless your only goal is to post fancy guts pictures all over leddit, ignoring the actual cooling performance/acoustics. They look fancy but holy fuck do they suck hard.
>>
>>59647912
Stress test it and see how high they rise. If it doesn't get too hot, then your fans just idle at low RPM. Also, whether or not 30-40*C is bad totally depends on ambient temperature, second I wouldn't worry about idle temperatures as long as they are below unreasonable. What it gets to under load is what matters more. Hyper 212 is good but a beefier cooler could be an option if it gets too hot, NH-D15 & Cryorig R1 are both way better than anything the AIO market has to offer(both in performance and acoustics).

Delid first before you try to determine whether or not you need a AIO or not.

I bought a 7600k and it was able to do 5ghz at 1.35v pre-delid on a h110i gtx but I would see temps like 80-85c

After delidding I was able to do 5ghz at same voltages on a shitty 92mm rosewill cooler but never see temps above 75c

Back on the AIO it can do 5.2ghz without hitting 75c under load (even with 26-28c ambient temps)
>>
>>59648851
Ill give it a thorough stressing and see what happens. I was just a bit concerned at the idle temps since i upgraded from an fx6300 which idled at 20-25 without too much fluctuation. Honestly though i suspect the 2 fans included with the case arent enough, as well as the ambient temp in my new computer room being higher than im used to. Thanks for the advice.

noctua cooler has noctua fans, among the best in the industry

if you replace your AIO fans with something normal, then you're going to get better noise levels... I have maglev fans on my h100i cooling my overclocked 3770k, they run at 500rpm or so and are absolutely silent. Wasn't the case with the shitty SP120 fans corsair shipped it with.

Still though, are they as good as a proper watercooling setup? no. Could you get more silent with a giant heatsink instead? sure, no pump whirring. But the first one costs a fuckton and the second has a few kilograms of aluminium sagging your motherboard which may not be desirable for everyone.
>>

Noctua fans aren't made of unicorn poo and the Cryorig performs like a champ with it's Cryorig fans too. AIO is broken as a concept already, changing fans will surely improve it's results a little, but it's still no match for a proper air cooler. Also, the coolers aren't as heavy as you think and motherboards have been reinforced in past years, taking the weight of modern coolers into consideration. Unless you are dropping your case and throwing it off the table on a daily basis, there is no need for worry with a beefy air cooler. The ~800-1000g of aluminum might seem like a heavy weight, but the motherboards are also thick and reinforced with 4 screws just around the socket area. Bent motherboards are a shitty meme, nearly woodscrews-tier.

Sorry I wasted my time, hadn't realized you were a complete fucking retard

>>
>>59649627
You get better fans with a better cooler for a lower price, the fact that you find AIO's justified blows my mind. Both the cooling solutions offer about the same amount of heatspreading area, using about the same materials. One just transfers the heat from the source using heatpipes, other uses liquid. Paying +50% for the other while being supplied with shitty fans and gaymer design at the same time is just stunning, blows me away that anyone wastes money on them. But there you are trying to reason to yourself how the memecooler was a good investment. I'm trying to help you realize how completely retarded you are.

Sounds like you just want to hate on Jay but don't really know why. Is it because he's popular?

hey its me, the anon that called out to why you never upgrade. so what gpu are you looking into getting, got an old r9 lying around my closet atm. maybe this card is something that could suit your comfort for the wait.
>>
>>59621801
It won't. There's no way that's stable as anything over 1.4 on Haswell is beyond dildoes.
>>
>>59649721
No need to cry this hard, my mentally retarded friend. So what, your underdeveloped brain didn't allow you to comprehend the elementary difference between different fans and their noise profiles, and you thought the difference was due to heatpipe magic. It is a bit embarrassing for you, yes, but doesn't warrant crying this hard.

Don't get me wrong, I want to dislike Jay as much as anyone. He can be quite a dick in his comment section.

But we all know there's nothing wrong with his watercooling setups. So using that as a reason to hate him isn't being honest.
>>
>>59650703
That anon is right though, the dudes setups are a little wonky in the way the fittings are on and the useless twists and turns he takes for aesthetic basically just making him use more fluid. He did start a huge bunch of shit with a watercooling company too for something that was completely his fault and he refused to accept it, calling for a boycott of the company before silently saying on twitter "was my fault". He's had multiple leaks too over the past year, every time he makes a new build you get another video within a week titled SKUNKWORKS LEAKED (NOT MY FAULT)
Pauls hardware is equally unlikeable but hes better at watercooling, go to any watercooling forum, everyone laughs at jayz blatant incompetence
>>
>>59650733
Yeah that was kinda shitty of him calling for his lynch mob of 12 year old fans to attack the guys.
It was something along the lines of
"Hey guys your coolant has color issues you need to fix you issues and stop making me waste money"
They replied something like "Nah stupid it's your fault"
Then he said NUH UH and cried about it on his little podcast and his fanbase attacked the fluid makers twitter for like a week
>>
>>59650733
to expand on what I said pointing to what you said here >>59614427
Sure there is nothing inherently earth shattering about jayz watercooling fuck ups but he should never ever be used as a baseline ever
or linus, the whole room watercooling was a fucking disaster and the dudes PC is a fish tank

I don't do twitter so never got this. What was his mistake with the fluid?

(I'm assuming it was the case with skunkworks turning from yellow to puke color)

Got an Optiplex 7010 with a 3770 for free, stuck a 1050 Ti in, decent 1080p machine for the living room.
>>
>>59650927
Yeah basically said on twitter it was the companies fault, then used a different one of their liquid and the color still changed, then used another companies liquid and it still changed, then he finally realized the issue came from within his loop after months of trying new liquids and shitting on the fluid companies. That and when asked to provide a test sample of the changed liquid he said "yeah ok" and never did it

I'm actually waiting for Ryzen to have the kinks worked out. Maybe wait a little longer just to see if they offer slightly better processor or a slightly cheaper price. But yes, I've been waiting for the release of the Ryzen and will get one.

Wish motherboards where made with some more character like they where in the C2D/1366 days, all of them look to sterile and bland now.
>>
>>59653506
I don't see anything fundamentally wrong with it either. That top exhaust fan looks like it should be an intake but other than that it's neat and clean. Dusty but clean.

>>59653857
You'd imagine a decade would be enough time to get your cables put in order. Seems like it isn't after all.
>>
>>59638888
Nice quads. The RX 480's have little to no room for overclocking, so I wouldn't consider it a factor when choosing one. The Asus DUAL's were on sale here, they were cheaper than the cheapest RX470's, same-ish price with RX460's. I'm happy with it. Fans off when there is no load on GPU, but they get really loud at higher RPM's, sounds like ball-bearing noise. Overall I'm pleased, looks clean and has no leds.
>>
>>59655090
Not cheaper in the UK, wouldn't fit in the case, wouldn't run off PCI-E only, has double the TDP of the 1050 Ti when the PSU is already pushing it's luck a bit.
>>
