Every fucking time. How do I fix this?
>>
>>59593331
Installed it on my HTPC a few days ago along with autologin as a guest user as I needed something a bit more accessible than my personal i3wm setup as there are others using the PC from time to time. Can't say I've had any problems with it so far. Setting it up was also really straightforward.

What are the improvements of Wayland over Xorg?
Can I use enlightenment / GNOME 3 with it?
>>
I've used XFCE since 2011 on my main desktop computer and I'll probably continue using it for a long time yet, as long as they don't go mad and give everything a shit redesign like gnome did.

But I've noticed that XFCE has been getting bigger and slower and more memory hungry than it used to be around 2011. My laptop is a really low power celeron with 2GB of RAM, so I prefer to use a minimal Icewm setup on it.
>>
It's the only DE I can use on FreeBSD for some reason.
>>
>>59595818
>What are improvements
Less memory usage, better performance, no screen tearing, smaller executables, simple, easy to use, smaller drivers (you don't need user-space driver, only kerlel-module, 1mb in size for intel), vulcan support.

>enlightenment/gnome
Yes, Gnome and Enlightenment works fine.
>>
I almost gave up on Linux when Gnome 2 switched to Gnome 3 and became shit, but I found XFCE.

>KDE is basically a slower windows desktop.
>Gnome is beyond hope.
>Unity is the spawn of Satan

XFCE just works and lets you customize it all you want. What's not to love?
>>
>>59595906
You can try weston, it's really minimalistic, less than 90mb RAM usage from start.
>>
>>59595906
Why don't you switch to MATE?
>>
>>59596399
Because Mate is a poor man's Xfce.

It's not very usable right now.

MATE lack of features and customization compared to xfce. Cinnamon is just bugged

This has to be one of the more stupid things I've read today and I've just gotten through reading a bunch of youtube comments.

Openbox with tint2 is pretty nice. Am I really better off installing win10 on a machine I spent time and effort and money building only to put a child's operating system on it. If I use any windows product it's going to be in a fucking vm sandbox.
