How do you not live in constant fear of your SSD or HDD dying even though you make backups twice a week?
>>59588561
I don't have any backups, no extra hard drives and not enough space to make a backup, and I'm a poorfag NEET.
I'm scared, /g/.
With HDDs I had to worry every time they made some weird noise but now life's a lot less stressful thanks to SSDs.

delet ths
I have a few gigabytes of bullcrap/personal data on google drive and I don't download anything anymore because of Netflix and Spotify. Bothet is my backup and I don't care.
I make one big backup every sunday.
Quickly changing files are also in my Dropbox.

look ma i posted it again

Because I have backups, what's there to be scared of?
>>59590152

>next backup scheduled friday

There is no realtime backup. The struggle is real.
>>59588561
That fucking image...
A little too close to home.
>>59590174
Backups every half hour are more than good enough for me. Oh no, I lost a whole 30 minutes of work. The horror.
How are you even supposed to stop your hair from getting fucked up in the wind.

I use a drive monitor that tells me the health of each drive.

Any of a million different hair products designed precisely to keep your hairstyle in place.

Does everyone actually use more than just shampoo and conditioner, because if so I think they are the autistic ones.
Well my server's backup devices stay powered off when not in use there by extending the life of the backup drives and less prone to data corruption due to power loss. I run server backups only if I add new data to the data/media drives which don't happen as often as it used to. Plus it has to be a substantial amount (say several GB). Now clients get backed up once a day to the server regardless of how much (if any) data changes. I always scan my server's event logs under system for any "NTFS" flags. If you see any then something is fucked with a drive, either it's dieing or there is hardware error. But no mater if you get NTFS flags your data on said volume is fucked to.

Hair wax is technology

By basic hard drive monitoring, and having automatic periodic backups to a resilient server, and occasional offline backups to shelf stable storage.
So maybe that's just, I don't live with that.
>>59588561
I mitigate this risk by never doing any serious work that would necessitate backing up.
>>59588604
There are multiple free online storage systems. One drive, box.com, Google drive, to name a few. Pick your most important files, and back them up to those. With a few hours searching and signing up, you can probably find over 100GB worth of free online storage. Use a backup program that supports encryption, and start backing up.

You guys will laugh at me, but important stuff I put on Google Drive.

For very important stuff, that is my own work, I instantly make backups.
But I do not care THAT much about my animes or anime girl pictures or music or whatever.

answers ITT are fucking pathetic. anything less than RAID1 is newfag cancer. currently got 4x2TB run off my secondary PC, looking into setting it up as NAS on a dedicated build. it's all movies, music, anime & pdfs, backup everytime files are added.

I'm glad this image exists. We should shame and degrade introverted people everywhere they go.
>>59590851
You sound mad
>>59590275
pomade will give it a slight amount of hold without changing the appearance or texture. that's all you need for wind.
>>59590952
do people actually use this stuff though. Girls maybe but do guys actually use hair care products beyond shampoo and conditioner, cause honestly it seems pretty stupid to me, I only recently started using conditioner
>>59590942
I'm serious. Introverts are inherently weaker people and they should be actively singled out as a means of display of strength.
>>59591008
good looking men do. even if you just need some pomade for windy days that's totally normal.
>>59591023
Here's your (You).
Party animals could never have introduced the societal advancements brought about by introverts. At the same time extroverts also provide benefits to society not easily produced by introverts. Only a fool would think one type is stronger than the other and reject collaboration.
>>59591008
I've started using it only because I don't like looking like a hobo when my hair starts to grow out and the pomade helps make it easy to comb up.

These are traits present in a lot of people. I lost my virginity three years ago in my sophomore year and a lot of these still apply to me, yes including the Newbalance shoes. Fucking pull yourselves together and hunt down the real reason for your lifelong dry spell instead of feeling sorry for yourselves over some dumb MS paint image.

>>59588561
Is there an "alpha" version of this?
>>59588561

nothing of importance that would need a backup..
work? on work share, if it fails it is my employer 's problem
media - I can redownload my library in a week or so
important docs fit on a a 1GB usb stick & are also printed out and are safe in a box in bank sec. box just in case

I sure hope you dont lose a drive while re-building your array :^)
raid 6 is better for anything 4 drives and above
>>59588561
if I've never had sex does that make me a virgin
>>59593998
>you don't have much, do you
Terabytes, actually. It's just that I don't back up things that have already been backed up. If I already have something backed up and I haven't changed it there's no need to back it up again.
>>59594159
Why raid 6 over 5?
>>59595827
RAID5's not good for large drives because if you lose a drive while resilvering you lose everything
>>59588561
Because I make realtime incremental backups using git on GitHub.
