What would happen if I RAID-0 an SSD with an HDD?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

What would happen if I RAID-0 an SSD with an HDD?
>>
>>59584379

instead of it being 100% faster it would be about 50% faster
>>
>>59584379
You would get twice the performance of the HDD
>>
(Speed of SSD + Speed of HDD)/2 you illiterate asshole.
>>
>>59584379
it would be slow because hdd has big seek time

What would happen if you turned a solid state drive into a spinning state drive?

Then it becomes (Speed of SSD * Speed of HDD)/2
>>
>>59584609
Hello this is Intel please send an email to [email protected] we'd really like to hire you, 500k starting.
>>
>>59584609
The centripetal force would compress the bytes even further, adding to the capacity. Great idea, Anon!
>>
>>59584379
A better question is, what's raid 0?
>>
>>59584379
Becomes a super speed disk
>>
>>59584609
You spin me right round
>>
>>59584379
Faster read speeds and marginally faster apparent write speeds compared to just a HDD.

>>59584379
Maybe you should spend 10 seconds thinking about what would happen?
The speed of the SSD would be >> than the speed of the HDD. Therefore the speed of the raid0 would be exactly 2x the speed of the HDD
>>
>>59584596
>Illiterate asshole
>Raid0 = (speed of HDD + speed of HDD)/2 = 2x(speed of HDD)/2 = 2/2 x Speed of HDD = 1xSpeed of HDD = speed of HDD
>Raid0 is exactly as fast as a single drive
>>
>>59584445
Correct answer.
>>
>>59584865
You'd have a lot of trouble with rotational velocidensity degrading your audio quality, though.
>>
>>59584379
>What would happen if I RAID-0 an SSD with an HDD?

you would get a lot of weird errors and it would barely work
>>
>>59584609
>wanting even worse rotational velocidensity
why
>>
>>59584609
Change the design. Make it work as a system fan.

And twice the space of the ssd (probably).

/thread
>>
>>59584609
Is it called a Solid State or a Hard Disk?
>>
>>59585089
Maybe you shouldn't be on this board...
>>
>>59584609

Very hard, since you'd have to rotate the computer in sync to be able to read the data from the SSD. ONly seen a few people pull it off.
>>
>>59584379
It would become a Solid Hard Drive
