If OP is not a power user then that ram speed will be just fine. In fact, that difference in ram speed is quite small, and even at 3200 you wouldn't notice anything.

CCX interconnect speed is dependent on RAM frequency.

Same CCX core to core is 40ns, cross CCX is 140ns with 2133mhz RAM. It's around 110ns with 3200mhz RAM. Games are highly cache timing sensitive so it's a good boost in performance.

It's not the memory itself, it's how the CCX are dependant on memory frequency.

Had DDR4 ram that wasn't compatible with my z170 motherboard. Fuck my shit up for a while famalam. Couldn't install windows, yet ram was completely fine on memetest. Finally managed to get the thing working by overvolting it. My whole system was unstable for a year until a BIOS update fixed it.

I'd be careful and read the official motherboard compatibility list before buying ram next time senpai.

3000mhz minimum. 3200mhz icing on the cake with ryzen.

just make sure its single rank samsung chips. virtually any gskill cas 14 16gb / 32gb (2x8, 4x8, NOT 2X16) kit will be single rank samsung chips.

2x16gb cas 14 gskill will be dual rank samsung. limited to either 2666mhz or 3000+ at stupid levels cas like cas 18.

only reason why 3200 is recommended over 3000 on ryzen is because ryzen doesn't officially have a 3000mhz ratio. only a 2933mhz ratio.... and that and 3200mhz is pretty much that max, and only doable with samsung single rank chips. so 3000mhz kits will run at 2933mnz (29.33 ratio). this isn't bad, only 67mhz difference, but with tight timings, you won't notice anything.

only go 3200mhz if you know for fact its a single rank 2x8gb 16gb samsung chip kit. it won't work otherwise. even if its a 4x8gb 32gb single rank samsung chip kit. ryzen ONLY supports a 2666mhz ratio on 4x8gb single rank and any dual rank kit. which also means 16gb modules used in 2x16gb 32gb kits will NOT run any higher than 2666mhz because ALL 16gb modules are dual rank. unless you do what >>59551527 stated, super high cas latency. like 18-16-16-16-36. at which point cas 18 3200 will be barely faster than cas 14 3000.

you can easily tell which 3000 & 3200 kit is samsung because they will have very low and tight timings. like 14-14-14-14-34. pretty much any gskill 16gb cas 14 3000 and 3200mhz kit will be single rank samsung. cas 16 3400 16gb kit from gskill will be single rank samsung as well.

any cas 15 3000 & 3200 will virtually be shitty hynix. like nearly all overpriced garbage from corsair. i say garbage because corsair charges a premium for their hynix kits. even their dominator kits use hynix, not samsung.
