Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

>Consider stock fan+heatsink for any i3 or locked i5 build without a Z mobo
>Consider a B250 or mobo for any Pentium or i3 build

Here's what I picked! I did some research on the parts, but most of all I just went along with the reviews and prices haha

The total of this is £490, so I have around 200 pounds left over

If anyone has any ideas on how I can improve this, please share them with me

Will be starting a new military-themed build soon and need some reccomendations for parts to use. Will already be using the AsRock Z270 SuperCarrier mobo, the Corsair C70 Military Green case, and the Deepcool Captain 240EX White liquid cooler.

Anything that fits this theme?

Person you quoted here.
If you that much money left then go with an i5 7400, 7500 or 7600 (the best one if possible). If not keep the G4560.

You don't need a cooler. Those CPUs already come with one.

Motherboard is probably fine.

Get 2400mhz for the RAM if it's not that much more expensive than the 2133mhz. If you can't it's fine.

See if you can fit a 2tb. If not it's fine.

GPU looks good.

Check the Fractal cases. If not it's fine.

Windows 7 won't work on any of the CPUs I listed. Download Windows 10 from their website and mount it on an USB key. Google it if you don't know how to. Also, how do you plan on building it? Will you do so yourself or?
>>
>>59546984
>>59548963
And if you can even squeeze out even more money get an i7-7700 which will last you a long time. Sometimes they're cheap. Currently best non-K CPU.

You don't strike me as rich or someone who'll want to ever overclock so ignore comments about getting a Z board or a K CPU.

I replaced your SSD and hard drive with better, cheaper programs. With the amount you're paying, I'm assuming you won't be loading everything onto SSDs, so I just gave you a 120GB so you can load your OS and whatever games you want on there, and yhe rest on the HDD. Yes Samsung is pretty good, but most likely you wouldnt notice the difference unless you needed a fast ssd for important reasons like your job. I changed your graphics card from a 4gb to an 8gb because why not, its still cheaper then your original build. You could probably sneak a 480 in there if you had the budget. I swapped your psu because EVGA is not as trustworthy as Seasonic. Also, you dont need 650W
>>
>>59549425
Well I didn't really watch any videos and just used the guide that came with my mobo (all parts pretty much came with guides but the mobo guide was obviously the best) and that was all I needed to figure what goes where and in what order
>>
Is there a really noticeable gain in m.2 ssd?
Looking to buy a 500gb m.2 for OS and some progams and gaymz, while using a normal 1 Tb ssd for other gaymz and finally a 4Tb Hdd for media and such

I'll take my time I guess and triple check everything.

>>59549469
Definitely H7 I'd say. 7700K can get really hot from all the benchmarks, tests, videos etc I've seen, best playing it safe and getting a tower rather than a low profile cooler. Price is similar I think too. If you can squeeze out more there's the H5 that's slightly better than the H7 but it's not cost effective I think.

Could someone recommend a keyboard please? I just spent hours looking for a keyboard and a mouse over amazon and while I did find a decent and cheap mouse (G300S, looks perfect since I have girly hands and use a crawl position) I couldn't find a decent keyboard.

that said, it isn't impossible to get close to 3200 Mhz right now

to change the BCLK on the board to reach those speeds.

No you don't. I'm running mine at 2933 on a shity Anus board and it, like all the others, have ram multipliers that go up to 3200. External BCLK is only needed if you want to go above 3200 (or to 3200 using a lower multiplier like 2933 as that native mc's 3200 is fuckd with current microcode on almost everyone)

Is there really much of a difference between i7-7700 and i5-7600? The only one I could find was that i7's operating frequency is 3.6 ghz, while i5's is 3.5. This doesn't look like an improvement that I could notice.

>Also, how do you plan on building it? Will you do so yourself or?

Since I don't really know anyone who is interested in gaming (and computers in general), I guess I'll try building it myself. My plan for when something goes wrong is to come here and figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've also watched a few building videos to prepare myself.

I realise that I'm putting a lot of faith in myself but oh well, that's the only option I have for now

If you want to stream, 1700

Currently the 6700K / 7700K only have a niche when shooting for 144hz in current games. Faster frequency, but performance when streaming at any decent bitrate if the game has four threads or more. 1700 has cores to throw around even if the base game doesn't use them.

Make sure you buy fast DDR4, it actually scales performance on Ryzen. Best boards are Gigabyte and Asrock currently. Asus laid a rotten egg this time around.

The i7 has hyperthreading, which means virtually 8 cores as opposed to 4.

You can see its overall gaming performance compared to other Intel CPUs here :
https://www.computerbase.de/2017-03/amd-ryzen-1800x-1700x-1700-test/3/#diagramm-gesamtrating-spiele-full-hd
As you can see it wins 7% over the i5-7600, and in general wins over anything that is not the 7700K (a lot of i7 in there don't count as they are $1000 professional CPUs).

Build is looking pretty good, up to you now to ask for more advice from everyone or buy it. Also, if you're interested in waiting, Ryzen 5 CPUs are just around the corner. Up to you decide whether or not it'd be worth it. I recently with Intel so this is what I could help with, if you need infos regarding Ryzen and newly made AMD boards I'm afraid I won't be able to help. Good luck.
>>
>>59553151
>>59553990
Also worth saying that if I were you, I wouldn't buy that graphic card and simply save up for a better one. The i7 has an integrated GPU (HD Graphics 630 https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=HD+Graphics+630) built inside anyway so you'll still be able to turn your computer ON and even play some little games for a little while. As of now that GPU will bottleneck your CPU pretty hard.

VEGA cards are coming soon so if you can wait a little more I believe it'd be worth it (prices might drop), on top of the Ryzen 5 chips too.

If you can't wait then get one if the i5s I listed or the Pentium and get a RX 470 or 480 or something, but mind you that won't be really future-proof.

Good

As long as you like it, you should be fine.
>>59558259
The one on logical increments assumes you will be overclocking. If you aren't, there is no reason to get it. A 80+ Gold fully modular PSU should have all the stuff you need. Be sure to go with EVGA, Corsair, or SeaSonic for your PSU.
>>59558296
M.2 SSDs are faster and smaller than regular SSDs. Honestly, temps do not make a difference in performance unless you are overclocking. The stock cooler will get a bit loud but you are getting a free cooler so I don't really complain. Ryzen will be getting (arguably) better coolers come R5's release next month so if you want a better stock cooler I would wait until then.

For m.2 SSD:
- Are m.2 and m.2 2280 significantly different?
- Why do they all look like bare chips, rather than in cases?
- Are they significantly faster than other SSD?
>>

Okay, thanks senpai
>>
>>59558657
for example the 960 evo m.2 SSD has read speeds of up to 3000MBs and writes of up to 1800MB/s

while the regular sata SSDs seem to limit themselves to around 500MB/s both in read and write

Thank you.

Looking at newegg, this SSD seems reasonable;

1775MB/s read and 560MB/s write

way better reads than from a SATA SSD and Intel if obviously reliable

there are faster options but they are a lot more expensive

With the MOBO:
MSI B250M GAMING PRO Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

- It appears to support 7th Gen processors support DDR4 2400/ 2133 ; so my RAM should be DDR4 2400, since DDR4 3000 would be wasted?

- micro ATX mobo in a mid-tower case, should this worry me?

Phanteks unless you move your PC a lot. If you've ever felt a C70 in person it's NOT that sturdy. It's mid-low tier metal at best as far as thickness. It looks like a durable and sturdy ammo can but the metal simply is not that tough. Handles are handy, though. No pun intended. Really glad I bought my R2 XL instead of that for my case back in 2013.

I would like to have the Wraith Max as an option with a 1700 though, that would be sweet.

R5 1400 or R5 1500X?

Is the 15X worth $20 more when I don't plan to overclock?
>>
>>59560763
All of them are overclockable. The 1500X is only worth it if you want higher clock speeds and a better cooler. If you want a more budget option, the 1400 is th eway to go.
>>
>>59560663
So there's no reason for the increased R/W?

I see.. I'll trust your word/opinion and go with i7-7700, then. (Thanks again!)
I won't buy the graphic card now, but since I'll still be able to (hopefully) turn it on, I don't mind waiting a few months for it.

So, if I go with this list, which graphic card would you people recommend me?
My budget is £700, and this whole thing will cost me around £545, which leaves me with £155. I earn £100 a month and the longest I could wait for it would probably be 2 months. (that would be ~£355 together, however, I'd love if it cost slightly less than that)

Also, wouldn't I need to buy a new power supply, or is it alright if I used the one from my old pc?

>>
>>59560980
Check out the clock speed for each CPU. 1500X has higher clock performance per core than the 1400 but the 1600 and 1600X has multithread (8 cores iirc) clocking.

If you don't get a graphic card you should be careful to have a mobo that has the necessary slot to plug in your screen.
>>
>>59560827
The fire thing is a meme, but the 7700K is a very hot CPU unless you delid it. Ryzen was only a disappointment to people who expected an 8c/16t to have better IPC than a 4c/8t that's clocked higher.

Ryzen 5 comes out in 2 and a half weeks, I would wait until then to decide on what to buy.
>>
>>59560934
