BPi, pretty weak, old SoC

BPi + HDD

seedbox + file server
>question
Should I keep using these SBCs or should I upgrade to a mini desktop PC?
If yes which SBC is best for a file server? Current one on sftp gets 7MB/s top.

Not sure what NIC is in the bananapi, but if it's 10/100 that could explain the lousy speeds you're getting.
Also the reason why I got the C2, it has a gbit NIC
>>
>>59536800
The NIC is in the SoC, with a realtek chip outside as PHY IIRC.
It's GbE, connected to a GbE switch.

I've got an Orange Pi

Waiting on an LVDS cable so I can finally use my LCD panel out of an old laptop with a new LCD Controller board. Soon I'll have my own mini computer and display. When more parts come I'll be able to wire up my own converter so I only need one power supply.

Yeah the NIC on the BPI might be rated at GbE, whether or not it can actually sustain a file transfer at that rate is another question.

I have the BPI A20, using it as a headless proxy server, ad blocker + torrent box right now. It is a little old now but still more than capable with 1GB RAM.

Shit mang I encrypt my drive and it's already balls slow with kernel crypto support.
>>
>>59536975
Why would you encrypt your drive on an SBC? I just torrent public Linux distros.
>>
>>59536986
I store my files on it.
>>
I have an oDroid c-2. Also had a C1.

I'm not really impressed with it, honestly. It was cool for a couple minutes, but it's overwhelmingly just low power.
>>
>>59536994
Well then you would want something with a little more grunt and better specs.

Original BPI may get RNG working soon anyway.

I've got an orangepi zero without the flash SPI, how do I start using it?
>>
>>59537037
Is there a board with really good network and really good I/O? Hopefully also with HW crypto accelerator (what soc doesn't have one these days though)
>>
>>59537065
Not sure hey, haven't bothered to look into it much since I'm still rocking the BPI, but I'd start by looking at what hardware armbian supports:
