>>
>>59535417
Looks like gay bullshit
I use pic related plus another newer Linksys as a network switch
>>
>>59535481
the old WRT's are way too slow nowadays.
>>
>>59535489
I don't use the wifi on them. The normal ethernet connection is fast enough
>>
>>59535498
>"""""""fast""""""" 100mbit ethernet is fast enough
lmao
>>
>>59535498
yeah it's fine if you live in a 3rd world country with sub 100mbps internet

I realize now I got the routers in my post switched. The old WRT is the switch while the newer WRT in pic related is the one I actually have as my router
The old WRT is just a network switch for a few older computers that don't support anything higher than 100mbps anyway

My R700 screeches like a banshee when under load. Research tells me this is a defect common with them and it's fine as long as it's not irritating, which it isn't because it's in another room and I happened to hear it.

Think a capacitor is fucked or what?

ASUS WIFI Cellspot Router

http://www.tmonews.com/2016/09/t-mobile-asus-wi-fi-cellspot-router-59-promo-code/

Got it for cheap just $59 after my old Belkin died but of course they sold out right away, luckily I snagged one.

It's a fucking gem. It's quick and it has plenty of options without custom firmware and I feel that if I get around to getting some custom firmware on it this thing would be GOAT
>>
>>59535950
Sounds like bad hardware support or maybe just you being retarded
I've ran dd-wrt for a few years now with no issues
>>
>>59536194
Also you can get it here now

https://www.amazon.com/RT-AC68U-Wireless-AC1900-Dual-Band-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00FB45SI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472824315&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+rtac68u

I would've paid the $150 for it it's so good

The only problem is that people seem to be having problems connecting USB 3.0 devices to it because they interfere with the signal

I haven't had a chance to connect any hard drive or flash drive to it but this could be a problem.

Maybe if I use an extension cable so the flash drive isn't close to the router and doesn't interfere?

do people on /g/ really use their router as an access point aswell?

Yes it is. It's secretly the last great router. Throw ddwrt Kong build on it. Configure correctly. Enjoy destroying the airwaves for your neighbors within at least a 1 block radius.

Some Buffalo 1750AC. It's uber comfy.

yes I have this exact one, best Netgear router I have ever used. might need to pick up a switch though, using all the ethernet ports currently. never had issues with the wireless, and gaming (via ethernet of course) is excellent.

Don't

I heard Nintendo hasn't fixed a bunch of glitches

Maybe in a few months

Asus RT-AC56U. Has so many options that I can't ever hope to implement em all. Plus third party firmware if you don't care about disabling the AC bands.

Wi-Fi sucks and it will always suck even harder for you because of the walls. Either put an enterprise AP in every room or run cables.

I keep hearing advanced tomato. What's so great about it? How does make a router better apart from the UI?

Surprised there isn't a consensus on a good router here. It used to be Asus rtn16(14¿) or something. Now it's just all over the place
>>
>>59541683
Just use dd-wrt
>>
>>59536747
Yep. I have 3 of them in my house I got off ebay for cheap. They literally just work. A1408 is the model to get.
>>
>>59542018
Why? I read somewhere that it could also slowdown a router.
>>
I'm using mikrotik RB951G-2HND and I have to say it works really well but good luck trying to figure shit out with all the outdated garbage tutorials. Trying to fucking port-forward is impossible for me for some fucking reason
>>

WTF are you talking about?
>>
>>59542058
its pretty easy

http://www.icafemenu.com/how-to-port-forward-in-mikrotik-router.htm

use this tutorial and use winbox, if you cant it with this tutorial + winbox you truly are retarded beyond saving, sorry

literally googled "mikrotik port forwarding" and found it right away, this is pretty much the same i do so i guarantee it works
>>
>>59542089
I think the only thing I MAYBE missing is the interface gateway. That may work everything else I've already done. What was happening is instead of opening the ports it would close them. I couldn't use the fucking port I was trying to open.
