I got this keyboard out of a local shop for around 2$, he couldn't sell it because it's spanish and no one wanted it, it's a sweet deal actually because this keyboard is comfy as fuck for coding, I had the apple magic keyboard before that but I fucked up the wire.
>>
>>59533389
Are those ergonomic buttons at the bottom line actually more comfortable to type? I spilled the tea on my desktop keyboard and if I buy a new anyway I thought I could try some weird marketed things like that.

This might be overkill for my daily use but it's tough as fuck.

yeah it's pretty comfy and you'll get used to it in less than a couple of hours if you had a very different keyboard, but if you had a similar keyboard then you'll feel right at home, the model name of this one is Logitech Deluxe 250.

My baby just arrived today. I'm still getting used to the layout and the new switches, but I'm loving the feel, looks, size, and specifically the sound.

Once I'm used to it, the I think I'll really like the layout. The left control being where caps usually is is really nice.

Yes the font is awful on this thing and looks like Papyrus, but its a nice hefty board with lots of rubber feet, built in cable management, and about 3lbs so it does not really go anywhere or have a cheap clinky/clacky sound. Its also got o-rings and mx browns, so my coworkers wont kill me; its no louder than the ps/2 dell quietkey on my other terminal.

>>59534196
I'd say 90% of the math I type in is defining formulas for sample calculations/consistency checks, which typically is mostly letters until the last line.

>>59539359
When I got my first desktop computer, the majority of keyboards did not have a number pad, just the number row. I learned to type on a daisywheel electric type writer, those don't have number pads either.

I'm also left handed, but mouse with my right hand. I don't like the number keys that are not used regularly hogging the space where my mouse is more suited to go. Keyboards with the ten keys on the left are insanely expensive and not worth it.

I've found a way to make browns much quieter and have a much shorter actuation distance (basically all I wanted). The concept is very simple (almost obvious), but I'm unsure of how to execute it. Also maybe it's been done already; I wouldn't know.

My keys already have o-rings so the largest source of noise from the keys is the clack when the key returns to rest. I've tried shoving stuff into the dead space in the keycap to dampen the sound but it made effectively no difference. The only way to stop the noise is to prevent the switch action from returning all the way up. The added effect to this is reducing the overall travel and moving the actuation point up closer to the top of the key press.

As a proof of concept I simply took a small bit of paper towel, held down the stem, and jammed the paper into the side of the opening a little bit with a small screw driver, then replacing the keycap. Part of the trick was making sure it wasn't being held down so far that the key wouldn't actuate, but this took very little finagling to achieve the first time. The current result is a key that makes a fraction of the noise and actuates (consistently) with very little pressure. It's basically sitting right on top of the bump so the resistance is pretty linear. But, this could in theory be adjusted slightly based on the distance whatever material you're using is holding the switch down.

Unfortunately my switches are LED mounted and I don't even own a soldering iron so I can't open the keyswitch housings, which would probably make accomplishing this is a proper way possible. I imagine with the right materials this would be entirely doable in a more precise and permanent fashion though, just that it would be fine and tedious work.

>>59540579
if you could open it up, you could buy nitrile A/C orings and put them between the switch cap and the switch body, then you have the o-ring for the down stroke on the cap, and the return stroke inside the switch itself.

But at this point I think it may have been better to just buy a Mattias Quiet Click switch keyboard, which has dampers for both actions already.

I have an enormous Logitech G110 keyboard. It's a good keyboard but it is really wide. I'd like to get a short compact keyboard but I need it to have -

-black color
-backlighting
-wired via usb
-on-board usb port (My G110 has a usb port where I plug in the tiny receiver for the G602 wireless mouse).

Does such a keyboard exist? I'm having a hard time finding one.
>>
Could someone recommend a keyboard please? I just spent hours looking for a keyboard and a mouse over amazon and while I did find a decent and cheap mouse (G300S, looks perfect since I have girly hands and use a crawl position) I couldn't find a decent keyboard.

It's mostly chink shits that break after a few months, and even for seemingly normal keyboards I often read people saying how keys input twice when hit and other similar annoyances.
Please help.
