Why do all laptop keyboards fucking suck? After using my mech on desktop for a year, I can't fucking stand any of this shit. Is there any laptop whose keyboard doesn't feel like pressing on inflated balls of a dying hyena?

you can't fit mechanical switches in a laptop without making it a foot thick
generally, business laptops have the best keyboards
>lenovo memepad
>dell precision/latitude
>hp elitebook
but avoid ultra thin models

You could always get a tiny mechanical keeb such as a pok3r or HHKB and carry with you. They're expensive though.
Ah, don't remind me I have to get one of those sets of retainers for my X220. I can't stand knowing that one key in my keyboard can pop out if I press on it a little bit hard, or if the laptop falls down from a short distance.

wasn't it msi who put a mechanical keyboard into a laptop.
Apparently this whole board has autism about size, but if you can real with the bit of extra thickness, its well worth it.

MSI Titan GT80

>1TB HD + 256GB SSD
>18.4 inch 1080p display
>9.9lbs
>Cherry MX Brown keyboard
>350 watt power supply
>2:21 battery life
>MSRP: $3,599
Try the new 2016 MBP keys. They take a little getting used to, but once you do they're easily the best laptop keys ever made. They feel great.

t. someone who has never had to commute or travel with a laptop outside his meme SUV
I have a lenovo sl300 from 2007
Its pretty much the last time they had a proper IBM style laptop keyboard everyone loved.

Came here to say this. The new butterfly switches are catching a lot of flack, but I think they're underrated. They're stable, they're firm and clicky, and I suspect from looking at their design that they'll be a good deal more durable than the old scissor-jack design.

OP said laptop, not portable computer.

>inflated balls of a dying hyena?
That is my fetish.

there's just no substitute for enough mm of key travel.
Which is, I think, why I don't like any of the new laptop keyboards. The market is very "thinness uber alles" these days, except for the super-riced gamer laptops. Hell, I'd be okay with one of those things if I could have it sans rice.
I unironically use an Alienware 13 , it has the best keyboard out of a laptop that can handle light-mid gaming and isn't a truck or a flimsy piece of chinkware
