IS there any software that tests the connection between the wifi router and the PC? ie speedtest.net but local? My gfs wifi drops connections left and right, and it seems like it is the router and not the provider. It's also not her shitty laptop, since my thinkpad also always looses the connection.
What can I do to improve the connections on some random locked down chinkshit router?

Yes, that would be the sensible solution, but it's one of those
>you only get to use what goes out of the router
contracts, and it's running for a while longer. Wasn't my decision…

Well connect a proper router up to your ISP provided one, disable WiFi on the ISP one and disable DHCP on the good one (assuming you can't disable it on the ISP one)

That's a retarded solution.
But…
…it's pretty clever. Problem is just, all my leftover routers need a TAE plug as input instead of RJ45.

A decent router is a good investment.

Not OP, but thanks anon, never heard of this one before
I bought the Asus 1200ac for $40 new. My house isn't that great , 2400 sq ft but it works well.
