this is good news. I can definitely live with that, I'm used to my 7s26 taking hours and I had read somewhere that all of Seikos affordable movements were refinements on the 7s26 so I assumed they wouldn't work on that much

In case anyone's interested, there's a geneve style megasonic on ebay right now. Gold, and the condition isn't as good as mine, but finding these for sale at all is a rarity in and of itself.

www.ebay.ca/itm/311829344124
>>
>>59521318
Damn, how about best value? Wasn't expecting $150 a pop.
>>
>>59521505
>How fast/slow is the megasonic running? You mention it has an Omega crown - is it the correct crown for this reference? Does the watch have any service history?
> Runs fine came from person that worked for omega that is how I got the Olympic watches.if you have any doubts PLEASE do NOT buy.i sell as found
Just fyi - I was definitely going to buy it until I got that message back. And no returns. Good luck to the brave one who buys it...
>>
>>59521819
Yea now that I look the crown doesn't look the same as mine. I'd factor in the cost of service (and a crown) for anyone looking to get it.

So i dropped my SNK803 by accident and the seconds arm fell off. I took it to the jeweler today, he looked at the back of the watch, raised his eyebrows and said he would charge me $35 to put the arm back. He also adds that taking all the mechanics out will be a hassle. What should I do /g/, i will look for another jeweler in the mean time but is it even worth fixing? Bought it on ebay for $70
>>
>>59522447
Taking out the movement is easy as fuck.
>>
>>59522447
>He also adds that taking all the mechanics out will be a hassle.
That's bullshit.
But yeah you won't find someone who will do it for $5, unless it's a friend of yours.
You can try to do it yourself.

Watch repair fag here, I'd do it for $10 on the spot and send you on your way, but then again I'm East-Yuropoor, not a Burger.

If a hand falls off from dropping it that's easy to repair. The tricky, expensive stuff comes when a hand falls off on its own, that means something is really fucked with the watch.

Also maybe the guy didn't want to do a half job and for $35 wanted to check the motion work and stuff.

First of all, don't listen to them, the Buran style 3133 chrono is sexy as hell. They probably don't even know the historical design it's based on (the Hanhart and Tutima produced fliegerchronograph).

Secondly, there is no need to insult vintage Japanese watches just because they are horological plebs, thank you.

WTF? Last night you were asking who makes the best mesh band. For some reason you freaked out that it was (only!) $150. Now you get a recommendation for a good value at $80 and you're still shitting all over it.

Mesh straps aren't that cheap to make. Get over it and pay the $100 or put big springbars and a $20 NATO on it instead.

The feeling when you finally find the perfect watch that satisfies the /g/ watch nerds as well as one you think looks great and fits perfectly is incredible. You hang out around here long enough and eventually you'll hear about things you never would searching on your own which fulfils all the categories and it becomes a truly worthwhile purchase.

Despite it costing quite a lot I still count my main watch as up there with the best things I ever bought and that wouldn't have happened without /g/ telling me I was an idiot a fair few times.

BMI is based on massive amounts of data comparing weight:height ratios to probability of premature death. It is only inaccurate if you have a massive or tiny bone structure (we're talking 95th and 5th percentiles, maybe even smaller margins than that) or are very muscular.

I don't know anything about the MTP, is it a decent usable cheap watch? Just looking for some cheap ones for variety atm.

Like I said there's no info on this variant, just a few Amazon reviews and nuddin else.

>It is only inaccurate if you have a massive or tiny bone structure (we're talking 95th and 5th percentiles, maybe even smaller margins than that) or are very muscular.
"very muscular" is an exaggeration—my BMI says that I'm obese but I'm /fit/ and have visible abs, but I'm a relatively small guy. If you are in good shape and fairly lean but moderately muscular, BMI is worthless. Same holds true for women who lift weights—they can be thin and sexy with a borderline visible stomach muscles but have a shitty BMI.

Basically BMI is only good for people who fail the mirror test (fucking obvious fatasses)

It was a useful pic anon. Nice to see that the watch goes with some normal attire.

I agree about the sunglasses, especially considering they're just shitty chink knockoffs

I'm absolutely in love with this 18 carat, rose gold TAG Heuer Carrera watch purchased from the beautiful city of Perth. Made with sapphire infused glass that only diamond can scratch, I've spoiled myself with this gorgeous timepiece. The calibre 16 movement has been crowned as the most successful automatic chronograph movement ever produced, completely handmade by man. It is also my very first day date watch and it will be interesting to see if it becomes an important feature that Will depend on over time. I hope you all enjoy this watch as much as I do.

Good day gents! Long time lurker and first time poster in /wt/ so go easy on me. Here's a little backstory to my latest acquisition and first foray into the vintage watch market.

I'm about to complete my final exams for college (this Sunday) and I had been saving up some cash for a short while from some tuition that I had been giving. I was interested in the Vintage Datejust market especially the 16030's & 16014's and had been reading up a lot about them over various forums online and had fallen in love with the linen dial.

This piece presented itself at a good price while I was in the middle of my final exams (which go on for a month) and I was unable to go down to see it then. When I finally went down to see it 3 days ago and called the owner on the way, he informed me that it had already been sold. Needless to say, I was crushed and started surfing the web for any other pieces that were available while I should have been studying for the final couple of papers this weekend.

I don't know if it was intuition or luck but I texted the owner again to let him know to let me know if he ever got another such piece in his possession and he informed me that he screwed up and thought that I was asking for a different model over the phone.

Needless to say, I rushed down yesterday, inspected the watch, found it all to be acceptable to me and here she is! Really enamoured by the quality and condition of this beauty from the 1970s. Will highly recommend them to anyone interested. The dial looks even better in person.

Oh well...back to studying so that I have a job in 2 months time....
>>
>>59529158
Lange is my favourite company. But their watches are made for watch collectors. The only people you'll impress are watch enthusiats.
If you're looking for a nice watch to actually wear everyday, a JLC may be a better choice. Although they have some shitters in their range.
>>

I really like the simple style of the watches but I dislike the numerals, arabic or otherwise.

I'm currently looking at the JLC master ultra thin, but I like the appeal of owning a Lange.
>>
>>59529283
Well there's the Saxonia Thin 37mm. It's a very wearable watch, unlike some of Lange's other offerings - and no numerals.
>>

The lume paint it uses is slightly radioactive (there are no gamma emissions, so it's completely harmless). You need to use an older camera rated for thorium glass lenses, as these have a radiation barrier in between the lens and the shutter.

So I finally got my Seiko PADI turtle resized! Its right on the edge size wise but I'm pretty happy with it. Ended up taking it into the jeweler next to work to get the strap done (damn Seiko collar & pin design!), and they fucked it up completely, had to send it away to get it back together, and they lost all the collars that go with the links removed, then tried to charge me $40. Anyone know how to get replacement Seiko collar and pins?
>>
>>59532845

Nope, both from (different) authorized dealers.

The Mako was used, missing a link, and had a deep gouge in the crystal. Turned out I didn't like it anyway once I saw it in person so that worked out okay.

If a watch you're considering cost above 500 dollar doos and isn't technically or functionally superior to this watch, STOP NOW.

technically superior to a watch with a basic microchip, a cheap quartz regulator, a few buttons, and an antenna?

That's the most basic looking shit and not in a good minimalist tool watch way but in a just fucking boring and lifeless way. And why the fuck is the website so ashamed of their own product that they can't even show a single photo of the full watch. Fuck these ultra macro shot, as if they don't want to sell. On a second look I see why, it's ching-chong land shit.

The railmaster looks really nice otherwise

they're doing non-limited edition railmasters too, but they still have the fake vintage lume.

I actually really like the looks of that TAG Carrera...

Are there any actually good watches with a similar dial?

>>59537593
Why is that a carrera as well, when it just looks tacky and generally bad, while the one in the picture is so much better?
>>
>>59537665
I like mine better, that's why I bought it.
