ill clock ur mum over 60hz

I clocked my 10 year old Samsung Syncmaster to 70hz few weeks ago.

Still runs awesome.
>>
>>59512216
Just go the highest possible. I've never seen or even heard anyone do any real damage. Those monitors just go blank if the mode is bad and a reboot (at the worst case) obviously fixes it.
>>
>>59511938
can't my hp omen resets it back to 75 again if i do this. just can tune my freesync from 45-75 to 32-75

Guys how is LG 38UC99 monitor?
I am thinking of saving money to get it by June instead of going for dual monitor?

>>
>>59511938
Tried this once, super fucked up my panel until it reset. Lines and blocking all over it.

Asus VH-236h and GTX670.
>>
Had my 2515h at 75hz for a while, but the memory on my gcard wouldn't down clock and some of my weaboo games locked to 60hz anyway so I reverted, the 290 memory produces a lot of heat.
>>
Lol my monitor only overclocks to 66hz. Waiting on a 1440p 144hz ultrawide before I buy a new monitor.
>>
Overclocked mine a while ago from 60 to 75, it's stable but created a few black spots in the screen (barely noticeable), and could've been when I tried to overclock higher than 75.

Update

I got it to run at 72Hz over HDMI, but I had to use custom timings. I won't even bother trying 72+Hz. I passed the frame skip test and everything seems to be fine, no artifacts, weird noises or anything.
>>
>but 75hz 1080p monitor
>won't let me select 75hz

I learned last week actually that it only supports 60hz on 1080p, been forcing 75 for years. Bullshit marketing.

Download CRU and use pic related timings. Mine works at 72Hz (and probably higher, haven't tried). The maximum it goes with default timings is 67 or 68.

Make sure you use CRU and not Nvidia's or AMD's control panel because some of the settings are missing.

How?

CRU or through your graphics drivers

>>
>>59520308
Cheers, man. The resolution doesn't seem to appear anywhere in display adapter properties or NVIDIA control panel, however. Are the timings specific to HDMI or should they work with DisplayPort as well?
>>
>>59520504
You can probably get it to 80Hz

>>
>>59520667
Nice shit, Fàm
>>
>>59520532
>The resolution doesn't seem to appear anywhere in display adapter properties or NVIDIA control panel
First make sure you applied the settings correctly in CRU. When you open CRU, make sure the dropdown menu is U2414H active. Under "detailed resolutions" (the first box with your current resoltuion and refresh rate) click on "add" and set the timings and refresh rate. Once you've done that, click ok and exit CRU. In the directory where CRU is installed, run the restart64.exe. Your screen will refresh or go blank for a second.

Once you've done that click on start, search for "display". Click on advanced display settings, display adapter properties, monitor and you should be able to choose 72Hz in the dropdown menu. Apply and ok. The screen will go blank and you're done.
>>
my monitor only went to 66hz on dvi
switched to hdmi and I got it to 72hz
>>
>>59520695
I did all that, but it turns out the settings are unique to HDMI (and possibly DVI). There were no refresh rate options for DisplayPort, but there were after I switched in an HDMI lead. I don't really know why, though.
>>
>have 4k IPS monitor
Lol no thanks
>>
>>59520741
Just use HDMI then.
>>
>>59520741
Actually, on second thought, I'm pretty sure you have to repeat all the steps for DisplayPort. I remember that switching between cables reset all the display settings both in Nvidia control panel and display settings in windows.
>>
>>59520850
I do too. I've tried it but I get frame skipping even at 65
It's only in select camera photos. Not all.

>>
>>59511938

>>
60hz 1440p IPS and 144hz freesync dual monitor master race
>>
>>59520695
what the fuck are you doing CRU is an AMD specific tool
>>
>>59521410
The internal monitor refuses to take anything that isn't already in the list, even if it should be able to handle the bandwidth eg 720p at 75 but not 720p at 72. It's an Optimus notebook, Intel HD runs the desktop, Nvidia GPU sends framebuffers to the integrated so no switching.
External monitors work just fine. Not an overclock per se since it supports 24 to 120 Hz, but I set my Projector to run at 48 Hz. Good compromise between performance, 24 Hz multiple, and smoothness.
>>
>>59511938

Why?
>>
Anyone done this with a 2209WA? They already support 75Hz modes anyway.
>>
I run 2 4K monitors on Intel HD 530 over DisplayPort, ain't no way they're going past 60Hz

Even when I do eventually do my new build, they're not going above 60Hz. There's just not enough bandwidth
>>
>>59521920

Idiot.

>Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) allows custom resolutions to be defined for both AMD/ATI and NVIDIA GPUs by creating EDID overrides directly in the registry without dealing with .inf files.
>>
My max is 75, which is what I have it set to. No problems for me unless I go above 75.
>>
>>59514172
>OC mouse
>OC keyboard
>OC usb interface
Sort of already exists if you consider 1KHz polling rate mice/keyboards
>>
>>59520504
What? No. It's definitely 60Hz here (on default) on any OS.

Maybe you have a version 2 or similar.

>>59520538
It blanks here.
>>
>>59520712
HDMI has new versions with very high bandwidth. In all likelihood a new-ish GPU + a new-ish monitor can easily go to very high timings on 1080p. It even supports 10K + 120Hz on the latest version!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Version_comparison
>>
>>59521410
Yes, I easily got an HP to go 75. It had an AMD HD 5000.
>>
No, it looks really weird. I can clock my monitor over 75hz, but the cursor skips like a motherfucker. There's no point. It looks really weird.
>>
>>59523747
You are stupid. Your monitor doesn't support it. Not all monitors are like that.
>>
>>59524727
I have a 120hz monitor that supports 100hz and 110hz resolutions without doing any tampering.

Those look pretty much the same, they awkwardly seem to skip shit.
>>
>>59524748
Above 70Hz it starts being harder to see differences. At 100Hz and above it's minuscule meme gains. The human eye can not distinguish anything above 150FPS when it was tested on very healthy pilots.
