This mother board keeps putting 1.55V through my 1700x for no reason. I have checked ryzen master and cpuz and they are giving out the same readings , I can temporally change the voltage in ryzen master but that is not a long term fix.

Does anyone else have this board?
>>
>ASSUS
You did this to yourself.

Return it.
Get an Asrock Taichi.
>>
>>59507759
What happened to Asus? Did they drop their quality along the line?
>>
>>59507793
God only knows.
Ryzen has turned the world topsyturby right now.
>AMD is more efficient
>ASUS is bad
>ASROCK is good
>Intel is MOAR CORES MOAR GIGGAHURTZ
It's a crazy time right now.
>>
>>59507749
it could be false readings by software try checking in hwinfo64
>>
Asus is the worst brand you can buy for Ryzen. Fucking problems everywhere. Their flagship is literally bricking with BIOS updates.
>>
>>59507749
The BIOSes are complete shit right now for AM4. It might be a false positive.

Wait for next official BIOS update. If it's not resolved by then, RMA it.

>>

Yeah, I remember back in 2010, /g/ used to think Asrock was some knockoff brand that made complete shit and only inexperienced people were falling for it. Maybe /g/ was even right back then. Times change.

Gigabyte Gaming k4
and maybe msi tomohawk but I don't know anything about those they seem to be first to enable proper RAM OC on ryzen though

The Prime B350 Plus is hot garbage. Go into BIOS and make sure your ASUS EZ tune bullshit setting is set to normal instead of optimal.
Make sure the core ratio is set to auto.

None of the overclocking utilities on my board even work, adjusting DRAM settings barely works, the automatic settings cause it to boot loop forever.
They're complete garbage boards.

My p67 extreme 4 is still going strong with a 4.5ghz 2500k after almost 6 year. Really nothing to complain hardware wise, it's perfect. Maybe their software and bios features like the fan control are a little bit unpolished, but everything just werks at the end and I'm sure on new boards they perfected these little aspects

the entire company should burn to the ground , their employees commit suicide, and every consumer around the world who had bought one of their products should send me a donation to atonne their sin of influencing my decision of rcommending it for him.

you're a good champ.
>>
>>59507809
asrock has had balls to try for a long time. About 10 years ago they had both pcie and agp on the same board.
>both worked at same time
>even ati and nvidia sorta worked at same time

To pull off shit like that, you've got to be a company who isn't afraid to try. They got my respect then.
>>
>>59511405
That's why AMD has my respect
first multi cores
first memory controllers
first over 1ghz barrier
better 64bit implementation
etc
>>
>>59510884
Simple curiosity, how many times have you flashed the bios since you got it? I don't even how many releases there were since launch, but I do know that the latest for the ch vi is literally from today -- it isn't up yet, just went to check.
>>
>>59511618
I've only seen 1 bios release, the beta bios 0902

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-CROSSHAIR-VI-HERO/HelpDesk_Download/

CROSSHAIR VI HERO BIOS 0902
Improve system stability

the fix was to stop the bricking, as that was the biggest concern

never had it brick.

to answer your question I got the board about a week ago and on my other computer had a flash drive already setup with the bios in it.. I did the bios flashback before even putting a cpu in the mobo socket and had the 0902 version from the get go & never had issues

and I did it that way because I know the nightmares people already had been having.
>>
>>59511618
>>59511726
oh and forgot to add you got me excited with a new bios release

I'll let a bunch of people test it on overclock.net before I touch it though. there's multiple 200+ page threads with the mobo discussion & overclocking there
>>
>>59511726
I watched the recommendations for flashing are starting to get really paranoid.

download rom into a freshly formatted usb stick
unplug from the wall
Clear cmos
plug it back in
insert usb drive
boot to bios
flash
leave it there until you are positively, absolutely sure that the windows/os desktop finished loading.
don't touch that usb stick
wait 30 more minutes for good measure.
shutdown, unplug, remove the flash drive
pray a bit
plug it back in
boot while praying.

that's the power of Asus brand new EZ flash™, convenience you can rely on.
>>
>>59511910
watched/*noticed that
>>
>>59511910
what the fuck
you just fat32 format a drive
download the bios file
name it C6H.CAP
put it in root directory of the flash drive
plug it in the bios USB on the back of mobo
plug the system in
hold the bios button down for 3 seconds
wait a few minutes & it'll stop blinking
>>
>>59511910
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI-zGV8SLho

YOU DO NOT NEED RAM, CPU OR GPU TO DO BIOS FLASHBACK

ONLY STANDBY POWER

YOU DO NOT USE THE BIOS AND YOU DO NOT BOOT THE SYSTEM UP TO USE IT

YOU PLUG IN FLASH DRIVE INTO SPECIFIC BIOS USB PORT
YOU HOLD BIOS BUTTON
DONE.

http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/USB_BIOS_Flashback_GUIDE/

and as said you name the bios file specific to your mobo
>>
>>59511947
apart from the prayers there were no more exaggerations. That was the recs for flashing am4 bios from oc3d, I saw it elsewhere too. First time I saw anyone mentioning the need to clear cmos before a bios flash.
>>
>>59512036
that's the extra paranoid tinfoiler version.

clarifying, loading optimized defaullts and clearing cmos are quite different steps.

>>59512036

>>59512080

>Assrock
>good
Assrock was literally the budget spinoff company from Asus. Both companies are shit.
>>
>>59512866
and your point?
Biostar used to be the top dog along with foxconn, circa 2000. While foxconn left for more verdant pastures biostar went to shit, and I just found out that ECS still exists (I really thought that they went bankrupt). Gigabyte had a shitty period, Msi too, both are redeemed in the public perception. And Asrock is definentely standing out with their am4 and have been on good terms with non-retards buying intel chipsets for a good while.
>>
>>59507749
I have a skylake, and cpuz fucks that voltage to 1.5 also. Scared the shit out of me. Now it does some weird thing where it only reports.54v, even under stress tests.
>>
>>59512866
and Lenovo was the spin-off of the joint venture for the budget division of the budget division (yeah twice a shit) for ibm pcs. Then they grew to buy IBM personal computers division for themselves.

It's as if the world never changes in your autistically tunneled mind.
>>
>>59508573
My MSI and Sapphire 7770s both lasted years in crossfire before I killed one with user error, so I have no bone with either company
>>
>>59510481
I've been trying out some motherboards lately, here is my quality ranking:

1. Gigabyte
2. MSI
3. ASRock

Unknown: ASUS (haven't tried enough)

Gigabyte is super solid IMO

However Ryzen is a complete shitshow right now, I don't even care what motherboard manufacturer you got with, you're gonna have problems
>>
>>59513276
regarding AM4, specifically, as of now currently released boards, I'd say:
1. Asrock taichi
2. Gigabyte k7
3. Gigabyte gaming 5
4. Asus CH VI
5-8 top end b350 variants
9. MSI Titanium - mostly because lol at that price tag, and it wouldn't reach top 3 anyways (no external bclk).
>>
>>59513370
Fuck off the msi one is that bad.
>>
>>59513439
I'm assuming you were meaning to say isn't*
it's way more expensive than the others, including the ROG, and has no advantage in power delivery, no bclk which has been proven to be a nice feature to have, and apart from gimmicky kek-worthy supah ovahclockah dials up to 11 has nothing else that would merit another look.
>>
>>59513522
I just bought a meme board.
>>
>>59508664
That board was surprisingly stable though, from my experience. Sure better than my Asus a8n-sli board that gave me nothing but errors with the IDE and Sata controllers.

it isn't bad, its just the msi titanium is grossly overpriced for what it is. it uses the same vrm configuration found on the much cheaper msi carbon, which its vrm's (niko) are not anything spectacular compared to asrock, asus, and gigabyte offerings, and no bclk generator... and they want $300. its pretty much a $170 msi carbon but silver and a heat pipe to connecting the vrm heatsinks together.

in comparison the gigabyte k7 for $209 is a much better value. uses international rectifier vrms, heat pipes on the vrm heatsinks, and a bclk generator. the gaming 5 for $190 has everything the k7 has except a bclk generator and heat pipes to connect the heatsinks.

asus crosshair vi hero is overpriced. it should be similarly priced as the k7 since its nearly identical. iirc the only difference is two extra cpu phases on the hero which are pretty much pointless since ryzen cannot overclock high enough to use the extra amps / wattage. the six on the k7 are WAY more than enough for power, cooling, and efficiency.

overall the asrock tachi and fatality professional are the best imo. not overpriced, excellent hardware and build quality. k7 and gaming are a nice alternative. msi is just poopoo and asus overpriced like usual.
>>
ASRock has the best mobos right now for AM4

For B350 I would get the AB350 Pro 4
For X370 I would get either the Killer (best bang for buck) or the Taichi (more expensive premium option)

The Pro 4 is especially great in that price point, has the best VRM power phase
>>
>>59513739
oh yeah and both the gigabyte gaming 5 and k7 and asrock fatality pro both have dual network adapters as well. so you get both the default intel and either a e2500 killer on both gigabytes or a intel and aquantia aqc108 100/1000/2500/5000.
>>
>>59508573
>>59510481

My asrock mobo has 9 years old of service running everyday, but even if 0.1% of people have issues that's enough to make stir nowadays, however the amount of failure rates is not indicative of a shitty company, but the quality of customer support such as warranty which ASUS has.

Now, a rushed launch is kinda shitty for everyone.
