dont know, but if you find out let me know.
I had someone send me a link just yesterday and it started something like " Encrypted: bullshit blah blah" it was a jpg and it didnt even end in an extension.

I don't know, anon. Maybe so they only have to access one file?
But, google uses them all of the time. For most of their images.
