Hey /g/
Today I found my old iPod shuffle 2nd gen. Thing is, it charges only via 3,5mm, and I have long lost the dock.
If I cut up some headphones, and a normal USB cable, would it be possible to connect the wires to make a charging cable?

looks dirt simple. even a dumbass could do it.
go for it. you just need 3.5mm jack and a USB cable.

thank you for the reply anon! stupid question, the 3,5 jack, if I take the one from normal apple headphones, if I cut in the the cable part, can I connect the wires, or do I have to connect the wires from USB to the jack itself?

Yes, but be very careful about polarity.
Might be a better idea to look for the dock online.

make sure the jack is of the TRRS type (the one on the right in this pic). Doesn't matter the brand.
Connect the wires from USB to jack itself. and make sure you use a multimeter to check if you connected it right.
All you need is:
1 - TRRS jack
1 - USB male plug
1 - multimeter or other way to check connectivity
1 - soldering iron
1 - heat shrink tubing

alright got it, big thanks!!!
yeah it wouldn't be too much of a pain to do, but they really are quite cheap online, just try to find a seller closer to your location than china.
