Do we even need any other languages?
>>59495754
Sure. Unless you don't value the OS you're using.
>>59495754
C since all the python libraries are in C and you should know it if you want to make more.
>>59495754
Yes, to actually do all the work.
>>59495754
Hasklel, python and C(ancer) are the only languages any programmer needs.
Js
>>59496070
Yeah if you need something to be faster than the slowest mainstream language available or if you want to write a project thats going to go above 3000 lines of code you should use something other than python.
>>59496164
Nice cancer collection.
>>59495754
Yes. Python is fucking great on its own already, but it really shines when you combine it with another, faster language to speed up the bottlenecks

Kys macfag script kiddie
Why do people like Python? Do you like for your programs to break between releases?
I knew about the huge break between 2 and 3 but when a 3.6 script doesn't work on 3.4 not because you're using a new feature but because they decided to change the return value of a function that existed in 2.7 then it is just plain stupid.
>>59495754
nobody knows exactly which version to use
>install python2.7, not supported by python3
>install python3, incompatible with python3.4
>install python3.4, fucking invalid syntax with script written in python3.5
just
>>59496738
Because it has very easy to learn "english-like" syntax.
In reality it's slow as christ and eats up a shitload of memory to do even menial tasks.
It's a garbage language suited for non-programmers who need data crunched.
>>59496738
keep on fighting the good fight, python is objectively shit and never the best tool for anything -> trash it goes
>>59496770
this is what's going to hold the language back. I use python for most of my small projects, but this is honestly obnoxious enough to make me stop using it altogether.
While I am all for removing languages, 1 is not enough.
We need different languages that covers different things.
For most people, you only need 2-5 languages and for those people, it doesn't matter that there are many other options.
I will never use Python because of the 2.x 3.x bullshit.
When you google something on a language you should get consistent answers, that's never the case with pyshit.
>>59496770
This.
Unless you plan to update/rewrite everything you wrote, there is no reason to choose python as your main language.
