No reason to support more than one API if you've got one that works. The strongest practical showing of Vulkan's potential is of course DOOM, but hopefully more emerging titles will mirror its performance. Granted though DOOM is made on a well threaded engine to begin with, and the team working on it went to great lengths to squeeze out as much performance as possible.

They've accomplished an awful lot. Problem is it seems like the bar keeps moving higher. Adding new modules to the game, new concepts. It does seem like the creator will make it impossible to finish.
