Last I heard Moore's Law is still valid. However the trend right now is keeping the same performance and lowering power consumption, rather than increasing performance. Which is why you can pick up a chinkpad for next to nothing, put an SSD in and it'll perform just as well as a brand new laptop bought in 2017. (It just might cost a few more pence per year to run)
