Oh, fuck, it's time to put an operating system on this machine.
>inb4 how do you computer without os
Nevermind -- just been running debian "toram" for like weeks since building it -- that's not important. What I want to do is put an operating system on it, but I want the *right* one.
>inb4 there is no such thing
Granted, but I here's what I'm working with:
Specs:
>a10-7860k
>16gb 2133
>6tb raid 0
>500gb ssd
Usage (roughly prioritized):
>content creation
>music production
>video editing
>webdev
>coding
>no gaemz...
>...except for m-m-muh mountain blade
It would be nice not to be part of a botnet, but idgaf because this will be a content creation rig (and I imagine the telemetric footprint might be a viable means to prove authorship on my part of future works maybe)...
>and right there he lost the last of you
...whatever, listen, I just want to know what you /g/uize would do. What would you install?
>inb4 gentoo
Seriously, please stop farting around; what should *I* install on this thing in order to get stuff done. OS-agnostic over here, familiar daily-drivers have including Win95,98,XP,7, OSX and dozens of Linux distributions including Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, AntiX, Mepis (currently using a mashup of those last two), Manjaro, Archbang, Crunchbang, Feather....
Studio64?
I think you should dual boot windows 10 (get education edition - cheap af and no ads) and linux of course. Maybe even macosx if you feel so.
If you make a hackintosh you will be able to get logic, which is quite cheap for a full on DAW. You could also get an audio production linux distro.
As for videos, I think anything will do as long as it runs the software you want but you might want something lightweight so all computing power can be put into the tasks themselves. Arch can give you that.
I think you'll definately want windows if you want to play Mount and Blade.
I think you should triple boot Windows, MacOSX and some linux distro - maybe arch. Make sure to be careful when partitoning disks so you don't loose your data.

Ubuntu studio maybe?

OP is a creative thinker.

You can't dualboot Windows 10, it actively seeks out and destroys any other operating systems it finds in your hard drive. If you really want to dualboot, use Windows 7 instead, otherwise if you need W10 just run it in a VM.
