Shutup10 does make disabling a bunch of annoying settings a lot easier, but that's all it does.

Yes, you can disable automatic updates. You can set them to download only when you want to, by setting your connection to metered, or you can just break windows update so it doesn't work.

If you use the windows hide update tool, you can keep getting security updates without having to upgrade to newer versions of windows.
