You can grab a T420. They're good in terms of performance compared to the Macbook and was also released in 2011. They go for $100-$200.

If you need a laptop, buy one of the MacBooks that are already out. You're not going to see an update until Fall. Differences within one generation to the next generally aren't significant.

This. I just got a UX303UB with an i7 6seriesU and a 940m for muh light gayming for 600 euroshekels used with a few nicks. It gets about 6hrs of battery, there arent many 13" laptops with a dGPU and this one is proper good and gets all the apple autism points, including muh al00minum, muh portability and muh one finger open.
