Most games that scale well in 2 way mode, do just fine in 4 way AFR with pascal cards. But you need to supersample or increase resolution to really take advantage of 4 cards. 4k resolution would be minimum, 4 cards is 5k to 8k territory.

Multiple GPUs for gayman isn't feasible unless you have a thing for microstutter. Just get a multi socket workstation if you really want to waste $20000 on a computer that you have no use for.

Pretty much no games support more than two cards, even even just two gives you marginal benefits.

This rig might have been useful as a workstation, had it used ECC (registered) RAM (around 64GB-128GB) and a proper Xeon processor.

As it is it's not even overkill. It's overstupid.
