We have sales tax in the USA too. The sales tax in my city is 7.95% (5.6% is the state sales tax, the county sales tax is .7%, and the city sales tax is 1.65%).

I don't know the specifics, but I was a resident of another state and made an online purchase in WA and the tax was 0%, other guy in WA with me was WA resident and paid like 8% or something.
Maybe it's only certain states, I don't want to look it up, I barely pay for anything anyway.

We have that too, on the federal and state level. The federal government taxes regular gas at 18.4 cents per gallon, and diesel at 24.4 cents per gallon. Then the states add their own gas taxes on top of that, and these taxes are mostly used for the roads. And iirc, our military escorts oil tankers or something, so you could count the taxes that go to our military as a form of gas/road tax too.
