In a scenario where a server has only 1 ethernet port, but a client has multiple networks, does the server and client need to have an MPTCP-linux kernel or just the client?

In C++ is there a better way to observe a unique_ptr than using a standard pointer? I have a tree made up of nodes. Each node has a vector of unique_ptrs to it's children. Each node also has a backpointer to the parent for optimization. I'd like to make sure that the children are automatically deleted when the parent is.

What the hell is this bump/orb on the dash of my car? The car is a 2013 Chevy Malibu. I'm guessing it's a light sensor to tell the car when to turn on the headlights, but I haven't seen other cars with the same little bump on the dash.

Bit the bullet in 2014 and bought a Macbook Pro because I needed access to OS X and I'm stuck with it. It comes with a pre-installed 128GB SSD which is good for fuck shit and buying a replacement SSD is expensive as fuck.

I want to have both Windows and Mac on it and use Windows for lightweight/low-spec game and the only solution I can think is an external hard drive.
Should I buy a usb 3.0 external?
Or buy an internal with sata and sata to usb 3.0 converter?

Would something cheap like this take an hour to load games?

Most free conference call apps are shit, and are limited in time, or people.

Hey /g/ents

I have a question and need a quick answer as I need to get some work done. My PC decided to go crazy this afternoon. When. I start it up and get to my desktop I get a weird message saying Failed to initial Phone Control API. This is an Asus program and I am not too concerned about that, but my Malware bytes is going crazy too.

It just keeps popping up every 2 seconds with another Malicious Website Blocked message. So far I have seen a few different names under the Process heading on the message. Anyone have an idea?

My internet is stupid slow today too. I just got back from vacation and it's been like this since I got back.

Bit of an /o/ question, but I think my thumb drive is corrupted:

>car has no aux input
>instead has USB port
>buy thumb drive
>load with music
>realize I fucked up a few files (cutting audio at the wrong time, needed to replace with a better file, etc)
>fix said files

>stick thumb drive back in

Going to reformat the thumb drive anyway, and copy everything back over. Dunno what happened though, since it played perfectly for a week before doing this.

Dumb question about object diagrams (need to learn them for class). Which is more appropriate (or neither) to match a description like this: Any number of builders can work on any number of houses. When a house has been finished, a report is created.

I'm kind of confused about link attributes. My thinking is the top one is more appropriate because with the bottom one you're associating a different link attribute for every builder (which I don't want), whereas the top one has just one for the entire group (which I do want). e.g. 18 builders work in a group to build one house, you get one report rather than 18 reports.

Or maybe both are horribly wrong.

After a while, I could only boot on linux distros, nothing windows, couldn't install it either.
Then I stopped getting any signal, nothing on monitor, no beeps at all from mobo speaker even if I change the ram, everything powers up and runs well for long amounts of time until I shut it off, all fans running, no weird sounds, heatsink getting hot, nothing off at all except no display, tried using both the gpu and intel integrated graphics

hey /g/
I'm trying to figure out what's up with my phone's memory. I have a decent amt of space on it but it says that it's near full when on my phone is ONLY apps and my biggest is Hearthstone, being 4gbs. I have 16 stock memory and a 32 in it for music

Why is it that my stock is almost filled up when I know for a fact that I barely touch 6 gbs?

Does the App store also download the APKs and store them on the phone?

I was reading on a site and it said that it downloads the APK temporarily then deletes it. While another post said that it does download the APK but soon deletes it after installation. So 5/5? what am I looking at /g/?

Flash memory has a set number of read writes. Just like my phone, it will eventually go out and you're fucked. If it's an MP3 player with it's own memory you're fucked. NEVER buy a chinko memory MP3 player with that shit. Just get an android or something like the 6gen iTouch. It's so cute. it's a square.
>>
>>59442893
>Flash memory has a set number of read writes.
Isn't this mostly just a meme for modern hardware? I mean yeah it's correct in theory, but during normal usage you'll pretty much never run into those limits during the amount of time that you'd usually use such a product. That goes doubly so for removable stuff that you probably aren't writing to every single day.
>>
Windows 8.1 i had updates turned off but for the first time ever my computer is installing updates. could it be a virus or something?
>>
>>59442956
Yes it is to a point but it is true. I have the hard drive to my old laptop I had mostly for my music. It finally failed on me about 3 months ago. I got myself a 4TB and it's amazing. The issue with it is that it's smaller so it has to read it the way it is.

Flash memory works differently cause it's instant. It's like setting cement on it over and over and basically pouring acid on it. Even if it's eating away at it, there's still fragments. also, never run check disk or disk cleanup on flash memory, this includes SSDs. I forget why tho.

But as for Flash memory, it has an even lower rate. imagine if our phones had a HDD in them how much slower the load time would be. That's another reason why companies recommend buying a new card every few years even if you don't need to.

Anything I said, if anything was wrong and someone wants to correct me, go for it.

Okay, so when i tried to reformat it it wouldn't work. The only format it accepts is exFAT, anything else will fail to format correctly.
To recap:
I have a Fiio X3ii. It doesn't have any internal memory, only external via MicroSD card formatted in Fat32. I've been using it for around six months no issues.
My SD card is a SanDisk 64gb class 10. Bought it at RadioShack so I know for sure it's not a fake or something.
Now the card is refusing to be formatted on anything except exFAT. Even using my Fiio X3ii to format on Fat32 fails. When I insert it into my phone and format it it comes out as exFAT too.
I'm transferring some files and it works fine. The speeds are normal and so far no errors.
Is this fucking card kaput? exFAT is pretty useless since my chinky player won't accept it.

Does coffee have calories? I originally thought it had 0 calories but went into Panera Bread the other day for lunch and I noticed their menu had 30-40 calories listed for a black coffee. Coffee is oily. Don't worry about it. It's displacing food you'd be eating. 40 calories a day adds up to four pounds a year, but that's not how weight gain works. If you're at equilibrium and add 40 calories, you'll reach a new equilibrium at a lighter weight, not four pounds heavier a year later. It's like pushing a boulder up a parabola. Coffee also reduces appetite, so it will usually be a net negative.

I have this example of a bpmn 2.0 diagram.
Are these tasks regular tasks with just textboxes or are they special type of tasks?
I'm using bpmn.io to try and recreate it but I can't get the tasks to be like that, not even in Bizagi.

>The fucking time doesn't auto update, I have to manually adjust it any time the computer turns off or goes to sleep (it keeps the time from when it was last active)

How do I fix this? Could this be an issue with the bios or something? It's such a stupid issue to have.

In Windows 7, I turned Aero off and on again, and now Firefox adopted this disgusting font and refuses to change it, no matter what I do. (Changing it through Preferences->Content doesn't work.)

Everything else uses the normal fonts it always did. What do?

Go ahead and set the time to update from the internet, but it sounds like a dead CMOS battery

I'm gonna install Linux on a newly built PC, but I also have some old MBR-partitioned NTFS HDDs and I want them to be recognized under Linux. Is installing Linux under UEFI system OK for that, or shall I need the UEFI's BIOS compatibility mode on?

Windows 7 - My computer seems to be running slow even though my CPU and memory usage are fine. I ran a diagnostics startup which changed nothing.

Do I have a virus? I'm yet to verify because Kaspersky is scanning like 1 object per second, which means it won't be done for 2 weeks. It feels like Windows features like explorer are working very slow and web page loading is inconsistent; sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow.

"Running slow" can be caused by a lot of things. You could have programs running in the background that you may want to disable on startup. If you haven't reinstalled in a long time, now might be a good time to do so.
>>
>>59449391
I'm tech-illiterate but aren't SSDs prone to be faulty?
>>
>>59449375
My bad, I misread what your comment was. I tried the suggestion of the first guy I linked to already. I haven't replaced the mobo battery. Is it fairly easy and inexpensive to do?

Also could you elaborate on what you mean't by "set the time to update from the internet"?
>>
>>59449412
Not really. If anything, HDDs are more prone to be faulty than modern SSDs
>>
>>59449333
Thanks for responding. The fonts for everything else are working fine, so the files themselves seem to be okay, the problem is probably on Firefox's side. Would doing that help? Also, where from?

It's just that this started occurring fairly suddenly today; I can't imagine an already running program/service suddenly started slowing my PC down, especially while the CPU and Ram usage is fine.

The only thing I've installed today is Audacity + the LAME plugin, which I've done before on different PCs. Is it even conceivable that is the problem?
>>
>>59449412
Low end/Bad quality ones? Yes, easy.
(Kinston SSDs, PNY, etc)

Mid-high end ones? No, not even close even if you put them under a full stress test for years nonstop(has been done).
(850 EVO, MX300, ADATA SU800, anything with 3D NAND in general, etc).
>>
>>59449443
There's a guide for it, but it's an option in the fonts section of the Control Panel.

Exit Firefox, reinstall fonts, and then restart.

If the problem is what I think it is, then you're probably missing a very specific font that Firefox is looking for and it's choosing the backup font family as a result.

If reinstalling Windows fonts doesn't do this, then I wouldn't know how to fix it. I usually give this problem to myself when I get a little too overzealous with my disk cleaning, and doing this usually fixes my problems.
>>
>>59449479
I've already tried what you recommended in your image.

Is there a specific type of CMOS battery I should buy?

Getting ready to do a multi-monitor set up and I don't know what's the best way to hook them up.

I currently have one monitor hooked up to the hdmi port on the back of a 980ti (pic related). Would it be best to simply connect each monitor to a Displayport and plug them into the video card?

I've never used Displayport before, but I'm wondering if using HDMI on my monitor is the reason why it doesn't turn off/sleep automatically when I turn the computer off.

Get a 850 EVO or ADATA SU800.

Dont buy anything with 2D TLC NAND, only 3D.
850 EVO is what everyone gets since is a safe buy, really reliable.
