Not factoring in that the zuk takes images much faster than the doogee, I'd say this is a camera that is almost as good in image quality in the day. Very good job considering its a third the price. Not as good in low light though. It really trails behind then.

The time it takes to take a photo in low light is atrocious, the zuk z2 camera has no delays when you take an image, just check any reviews if you don't believe me.
>>
What does /spg/ think of the Moto Z and the Moto Z Play?

Yes, but funnily enough the zuk z2 is better in absolutely every other way. Including camera quality since it has manual camera controls to assist low light photography.

On ATT in USA. I want an Android phone with a big screen. I don't care how much it costs but is any phone really worth a thousand dollars? Removable battery and expandable memory would be nice but not necessary.

Is now a good time to buy? I have a feeling my S5 is in a downward spiral right now but if there's something new that's worth waiting for I could try and hold out.
>>
>>59430587
You should consider the V20, has great camera with OIS, better performance than a pixlel, a msd slot, removable battery, and is getting official lineage os support soon.

I plan to get one as soon as lineage OS matures a little for it.
>>
>>59429993

Neither, consider getting an S5 active instead. It has way better build quality than both, is waterproof, doesn't require you to buy a case for it, is cheaper, and to top it all off gives you a msd slot and a removable battery you can upgrade.

Also web browsing battery life is
S5 Active - 7:26 Hours
Nexus 5X - 6:25 Hours
Nexus 6P - 6:24 Hours

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/benchmarks

You can upgrade it to marshmellow which also upgrades the touchjizz UI to remove most lag it used to have.

Let's run down the list

Android phones let you:
>have real encryption with no backdoors
>download over 100MB over mobile data
>install a third party app launcher and icons
>use it as a flash drive
>share any kind of file over wifi/bluetooth
>torrent via torrent clients in the playstore
>install apps outside the playstore
>modify a few system settings to increase performance and decrease battery drain
>manually control complex camera functions via third party apps
>natively browse files
>view better colors via amoled displays
>browse 4chan and natively open webms inside them via third party apps
>extract/browse archives
>add additional phone storage via a micro SD card
>replace the stock battery with a bigger one
>add widgets to your home screen
>access important functions by swiping down

ALL WITHOUT HAVING TO HACK YOUR PHONE

You can spout all the "lagdroid XDddd---" memes you want but Android phones truly are more advanced than itoddler phones and the reason why they hold over 90% of the global smartphone market share right now.

still haven't filled up my iPhone's internal storage, and whatever I don't need I remove from my phone anyway, but I'm anal about file management.

>view better colors
As trendy as Apple makes themselves out to be, I'd agree with this. iPhones really ought to have better displays.

>replace the stock battery
Something that should be on all batter-powered devices Imo. I'll agree with this.

>add widgets to your home screen.
Everything I use is already there.

>access important functions by swiping down
Already on the home screen.

>modify system settings
Should be on iPhone I agree.

>Encryption with no backdoors
I like the idea, but whatever you say or message goes through a provider anyway, the NSA/CIA have it. I just day don't put sensitive stuff on your phone.

Man, I wanted to get the Zuk Z2 because I wanted a Snapdragon 820 phone with a 5-5.2 inch screen but every fucking "flagship killer" manufacturer aside from Oneplus shafts Europoors with the Dollar to Euro conversion unless you buy straight from China. Even the Huawei Honor 8 that cost $400 in the US when it was released costed almost €550 here.

Good thing that the Oneplus 3 is going to last me for years with the custom ROM support but I really wanted to get a phone with a smaller screen.

Hi /spg/,

I'm completely clueless about mobile phones, but I know that I finally need a real smartphone (because my old xperia from 20...10(?) has gone to shit.

What I need:
>G4 connectivity (LTE 20, I live in EU)
>small-ish size, so maximum 135mm in length (140 if theres no other option), maybe even smaller
>good display resolution, good display-to-body ratio
>an audio jack, so I can plug in earphones occasionally
>GPS would be nice

What I don't need:
>super fancy camera
>finger print sensor
>overpowered mega hardware to play crisis on my phone, really, I don't play games

I really only need the phone to make calls, use WhatsApp and browse 4chan 20 minutes per day maybe.
Since I don't want to spend an assload of money (around 150 max, anything cheaper welcome), I've been looking at chinese smartphones.
Unforunately, there are SO MANY PHONES and most of them are kinda indistinguishable from each other.

Any tips or recommendations?

Any phones I should AVOID?

I was very interested in the Vernee Thor, then I ordered it and now I tried to cancel it (on gearbest), because apparently the display is not as durable as they claim, they lied about using "gorilla glas", whatever that is and later on admitted that a few other things in their phones weren't what they advertised....

Anyway, some help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Moto G4 Play, but it doesn't have band 20. Or wait until the Nokia 3 is released, it costs €140 and has band 20 but it might take a while until it's out.

If you buy Chinese phones then you most likely won't get the right LTE bands. Use this site to make sure.

So my Xperia Z1 Compact kicked the bucket and I need a new smartphone.

My preference is something that works internationally (At least between the US and Japan), isn't Chinese, and preferably compact (the Z1 Compact was great until the battery started dying and the subsequent replacement was a fucking nightmare).

Decent durability and battery life are a plus for obvious reasons.

S7 active for battery life else 3T for performance

Web browsing battery life
S7A - 11:02 Hours
3T - 05:41 Hours

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/benchmarks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcTAXsFHu5I

While the 3T has dogshit battery life it kinda makes that up by being able to charge to 60% in 30 minutes desu. Then again this kind of fast charging degrades batteries faster and the one in the 3T is non-removable.

>If I were to get the 3T would there be anything I could do to extend the batteries life? How would I make the phone last as long as possible, because I don't have money to drop on a phone every year?
Not much you can do, this phone was designed with absolute high performance in mind. Turning on power saving would throttle performance significantly.

If battery life is that important to you then the S7 active seems like the only good choice without compromising performance too much.

I need help with looking for a phone.
I've got $200 and am not afraid of getting something a bit older if it means better specs and if used, I'd like parts to be cheap if needed.
The biggest I'm willing to go is 5.2", but the smaller, the better.
Right now, the z3 compact is looking pretty nice (specs, good low light camera, screen size, etc) and is easily within budget, but from handling a friends, it feels so fragile.

>Country
USA
>Carrier
AT&T
>Features
Decent screen, at least 2gb o ram, decent camera w/ decent low light, cpu at least on par with an SD800, android 5.1 or later is fine
>Budget
$200
>Size
5.2" (would like as low under that as possible)

I'm currently using a Note II with LineageOS, and it's nice, but it's just getting too dated, screen fading, and the size just feels cumbersome.
What I've gathered so far:
The z3 compact is looking nice, but it seems fragile.
Galaxy s5 is just too cheap feeling and touchwiz is a mess
Moto X 2014 also looks nice, but the camera is shite and battery isn't much better
LG phones off themselves
I'm not a fan on iOS
Xiaomi doesn't work in the states
Moto G lacks in the camera department and is too big
ZUK z2 has iffy support with AT&T
>>
I haven't bought a new phone in several years, but my shitty old Galaxy S3 is finally dying. I have a general idea of what I'm looking for, but I have a few hardware questions.

>Is 2GB of RAM sufficient? I don't play games or anything, but I want speed and responsiveness.
>Is there any reason whatsoever to opt for a non-removable battery over a removable one?
>I use a MicroSD card to store my music, but many new phones lack MSD support. Is there a reason to avoid MSD or is this just a trick to make me pay more for built-in storage/shitty cloud plans?
>Are fingerprint sensors worthwhile, or are they just a dumb gimmick that I'll never use?
>>
>>59438062
It makes shit worse actually. Stock rom has the best drivers, when I went to CM13 on my Nexus 5, camera quality degraded noticeably.
>>
Why is it so hard to get something like a z3 compact in actual new condition?
It's not hard to get other 2014 or so phones in actually new condition, like the moto x or note 4, of which I bought my dad recently.
So why is it so hard to find something like the z3c in new condition.
I've gotten 2 z3c from ebay, each being refurbished or repaired, but listed as brand new. (failed pressure tests, scratches, almost nothing in box, mismatched IMEI #s, etc)
I really like the device, but not being waterproof (pressure test thing) from repairs and paying extra compared to a used, cared for, non-repaired device in good condition meant both got returned.

Anyone know of any reliable ebay sellers that'll probably not do that or is responsive and speaks english?
Or somewhere to get a proper, ""new"", z3 compact?
>>
>>59442894
Z3C is really good.

Zuk z2 should give you 3g and 4g, same with LeEco X520. You won't get Xiaomi phones to work though, unfortunately.

Not many Chinese phones will work with AT&T

Real quick: Is the Redmi 4A a phone you guys would recommend to somebody who doesn't know much about smart phones?

Also, is it reliable in terms of battery life, software stability and actual phone/case stability?
Is the display prone to breaking or getting hairline cracks or some shit?

All I'm looking for is a low maintenance phone that will last me for the next few years.

Some are fucking shit while others are more trustworthy. ZTE, oneplus, and HTC are the few you can mostly trust.

When i got my nexus 5x (fingerprint sensor on the back) i though it's just a stupid gimmick. Year later i can't imagine using a phone without one. I do however use gravitybox to add custom gestures. (i both unlock and lock the phone by touching the fingerprint sensor and can do a custom action with a short swipe on the sensor too). Unless you usually have your phone unlocked/no password than it's less useful. The only downside is that i can't use it when the phone is on the table. But i still think the back is a better spot for the sensor.
