>>
>>59428684
I don't watch ads? You can't eliminate cashiers if you still has cash that people actively use, trying to chip every product and force people to place their cash into some sort of machine is an overengineered, expensive and, ironically, slow if you have a stream of people who buy only few things.
How do you plan to eliminate Law itself unless you want global dystopian "nothing to hide" surveilance?

Wait what? In the UK a good chunk of cashier jobs have been replaced by self-service machines already, I don't even have to interact with a human being any more, it's brilliant.

They still have people who manage the systems incase things go tits up though.

That's already happening, but pretty soon a lot of maths coding will be automated. Then the engineers will start losing jobs to machine learning.

Thank God machines can't produce good assembly code.
Mainframe programming is the future of programming employment once you fags automate yourselves out of jobs.

Cashiers will never be totally eliminated because of government regulations (cigs, lottery, spraypaint, alcohol, etc) and the fact that you still typically need 1 or 2 people present to assist anyone.

Smoking maybe not, but you still need ID to buy vape stuff at any given head shop, the lottery is mostly played by people too retarded to use computers, and you're out of your mind if you honestly believe people will stop drinking at any point in the next millennium.
>>
>>59427657
Anything manufacturing, if it already hasn't already. I don't understand why the American administration wants to bring these jobs back when the damage has been done a long time ago and automation progress will move forward regardless at lightspeed.

Retail too, self-serve is a thing right now but better solutions will pop up soon.

Postal maybe? If we do get some sort of automated line, postal workers would be shot down fast.

Also related to postal: anything transportation or driving. If we get some sort of automated grid, most if not all jobs would be flushed down the toilet.

I mean, at least mechanic jobs are probably gonna be on the rise. If you've got that much machinery doing so much critical work, you're gonna need entire workforces to be able to service those bots.

>>59427988
>Scientists
>Doctors
Sort of doubt, I can see scientist but doctor would need some work before we see some good doctor bots.

>Border guards

>Judges and Law in general
Naw, law needs humans because bots will probably only have one interpretation of vague laws plus they may not feel empathy.

>>59429000
>You can't eliminate cashiers if you still has cash that people actively use
Most self serve machines I've run into already accept cash no matter how complex the check system is.

They won't be replaced by robots, they'll likely be made redundant or delegated to upper managerial and research-only positions. Nurses are taking on more responsibilities as the menial tasks are being delegated to care aides (who will probably be replaced by robots in 15 years or so). Doctors are seen as too expensive these days and more hospitals and clinics are relying on nurse practitioners to do the doctor-tier work like diagnosing illnesses, surgery and prescribing drugs.

>>
>>59440243
>but you still need ID

Facial recognition will assess any shoppers age both faster and more accurately than some semiliterate ape on their third jobshift for the day.
>>
Honestly I doubt automation will change that much things in the coming years. There is already a bunch of useless, "middle-man" jobs that were created in the rise of the babyboomers to modernity, and plenty of these jobs could have been automated in the 90s, yet they haven't.

For example, this summer I worked at some government research facility as a translator and there were dozens of people just filing reports all day about papers written by the on-site researchers, basically checking boxes and sorting it all out, something the researchers could all do themselves directly.

Yes, automation saves money, but managing hundreds of people everyday brings something to a category of people. Some of the sociopathic managers out there aren't in it only for the money, but for the ego, the status and to have authority over others. They are bossy, they like to be bossy, that's what get them up in the morning, and if everything was fully optimized in their workplace they wouldn't enjoy it as much. Also, saying you are responsible for 125 employees in an office tower looks better than managing a team of 4 maintenance guys for an AI that runs an insurance company all by itself.

Ever realized how some people will explain something to you at great length long after you already understood, or will follow some very strict and unflexible series of steps when working on something, without ever taking any shortcut? That's another category of people that benefit psychologically from these overburdened, unefficient work environments. It make it seems like what they do all day is bigger than themselves and is worth doing, and they aren't doing it for the result, but for the structure it provides them. They have a corridor to walk in, and they don't need to take any decision they didn't anticipate already.
>>
>>59441166
Why is automated driving pushed forward so much, as if its something we need as a society? What's so bad about driving in its current state. Yes, there are accidents, but still..
>>
>>59441315
Because retards are obsessed with technology and the government does not give a flying fuck about the largest employment base for high school graduates in the entire country (trucking).

Personally, I'm freaked the fuck out with the number of people I see fucking around on their smartphones while driving. In cities I'd actually be okay with it to an extent, despite the fact that automation for long hauls is probably statistically safer.

If only half of the vehicles were automated, it would significantly reduce fatalities and the accident rate, And... reduce congestion. You won't have diddly cuck fuck granny trying to use her piss poor depth perception and shaky hand eye coordination just to make a left hand turn.

Have fun with your new domestic insurgency.

Military is basically welfare for people who can't make it in the real world.

>>59443900
High value items are tagged and are flagged when people try to take them out without paying for them, there are still security guards and cashiers, there are just banks of self service as well, most of them have contactless payment too which is really nice.
>>
>>59443955
I have a feeling that having a few self service machines, even when you need to pay for repairs, is still cheaper than cashiers even if people started to steal a bit more.
>>
>>59443980
Self service is way more efficient in general, I can scan my items quicker than handing them to another person for them to scan. Generally people use them a lot for less than 10 items.
>>
>>59443900
Where I am from, you place your bag on a scale and the items you put it in are being weighed after you scan them. If the weight is not as expected, staff will have to take a look at your stuff before you can continue. So you would have to conceal the stolen goods on yourself or in a backpack I guess, no sneaking extra stuff in your shopping bag.
>>
>>59427657
most labor work, as soon we remove the lower classes of meatbags.
>>
>>59441233
>assess age
Nah, it will recognize your face from your mandatory Facebook account linked to your mandatory embedded ID chip which you will use to pay for things once cash is banned to prevent prostitution and drug dealing.
>>
>>59441248
Yup this.

I don't think it's going to destroy as many jobs as it creates in a way. Greedy corporations like walmart would, But I'm pretty sure the waltons and most of the people they have running their company would cannibalize and eat human children if they thought it would be good nutrition for them.

Other places it wouldn't be so easy. If I called a cab and a car showed up, and there is no driver in it. I wouldn't get in that fucking shit. That'd be scary as fuck the thing driving itself. There is no fucking way I'd let my car drive itself unless I was smoking and dropped the cigarette or something and could just turn it on for a second.
