Use a random mixture such that it will look absolutely terrible unless tabs are configured to be 8 spaces.

The Whitespace programming language doesn't have this problem.

I use tabs because they're easier to create and delete.
I use spaces in Python and JS and tabs in Lua and C++ (also spaces for alignment in C++).

???? they're both one button press
Tabs, so people who like 2 space indent and people who like 4 space invent can use the same file without modification.
>>59420138
Only with tab to spaces. Otherwise you're hitting space eight times and pressing ctrl+shift+left all the time.

Well yes, no one is asking you to press the space that many times you ape. You're supposed to use the tab key even when indentation is set to spaces.
Depends on a project. I'm using spaces in c# and tabs in c++.

Configure IDE to recognize tab as four spaces
Problem solved

Tabs, ony take up one ascii char on disk vs however many spaces you put in and uselessly making the files bigger.
Spaces?! Spaces = raping the space key like fucking woodpecker...
i dont know but automatic indenting makes me upset
