You can find 4chan on any search engine. So no it isn't part of the deep web.
>>
>>59407637

so is a locked down facebook account part of the deepweb since it's not indexed by search engines?

>>
>>59407738
8ch or sone?

99% of internet users cannot get to sone, even if they click a link for it.

If google not indexing a site makes it deepweb, that seems a totally silly way to do things, there are engines that index it that are well known, and its reffered to not infrequently in the media.
>>
>>59407768
>?
exactly.
>>
Fuck off u cunt, go do research yourself first instead of asking on a board where you CLEARLY don't belong
>>
>>59407653
Yes.
>>
>>59407775
8ch, isn't it 100% legal?
>>
>>59407570
4chan is nothing special.

>clearnet = sites indexed by search engines like Google

>deepnet = sites not indexed by search engines like Google

>deepweb = sites on a special networks like tor or i2p that you need a special browser for

>darkweb = sites on a special networks like tor or i2p that are extremely difficult to access (government and financial stuff mostly)

>darknet = networks that are nearly impossible to find that are not supposed to be public knowledge (top secret government/deep state communication and file sharing)

Nothing spooky on the first 4. The worst you find on those is gore or CP. After a while you get used to it. The shit people talk about on YouTube about hauntings and red rooms is bullshit. The scariest thing I ever found was an unsecured video feed of what looked like a prison camp or something. It was grainy and had no audio. Probably has something to do with the Middle East being a hellhole where that kind of stuff is common.

Disclaimer: Not my sites and I don't know what's on them. I last accessed them over 6 months ago.

heh. you think youve got what it takes to be a hacker? nice try, kid. i bet you cant even turn your macbook on without mommy and daddys help, huh? I bet you don't even have your desktop riced like mine, fucking newfag. just because I take pity on you, and only because I take pity in you, I'm going to tell you how to actually be a hacker. the first thing you have to do is download the torrent browser and start surfing the deep web. be careful down there <thats another deep web joke, amature>, you dont know what youre doing and you arent prepared for what you might see. the second thing you have to do, is to join an underground deepweb hacker collective, no lone wolf ever took down a sheep by its self. youre almost there. you should stop using apostrophes or proper punctuation because when youre constantly running and editing javascript scripts and uploading trojan viruses to scrubs harddrives, you dont have time to type like a new fag. if you don't follow that step youre going to be ripped apart in the seep web like a five dollar bill in a sinagog. next you have to install linux and change your display settings to high contrast number 2, nobosy will take you seriously otherwise. finally, and this is the most important, dont ever tell anyone you meet on the clearweb the things you have seen on the other side, we dont need that kind of publicity. if you want actual advice on hacking , you should go to 00101111 01110010 01110010 01100011 01100011 00110101 01110101 01110101 01110101 01100100 01101000 01101000 00110100 01101111 01111010 00110011 01100011 00101110 01101111 01101110 01101001 01101111 01101110 . if you dont know what any of those numbers mean, you dont have what it takes to be a hacker. sorry, but not everyone is cut out for it. thats just the way the game works.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/3179772/internet/gawker-founder-nick-denton-believes-the-good-internet-will-rise-up-again.html

The internet played a huge role in this crisis, but despite it all, Denton thinks the web can be the solution to the problems it created. "On Google Hangouts chats or iMessage you can exchange quotes, links, stories, media," he said. "That's a delightful, engaging media experience. The next phase of media is going to come out of the idea of authentic, chill conversation about things that matter. Even if we're full of despair over what the internet has become, it's good to remind yourself when you're falling down some Wikipedia hole or having a great conversation with somebody online -- it's an amazing thing. In the habits that we enjoy, there are the seeds for the future. That's where the good internet will rise up again."

/. articles always suck, but there are sometimes some interesting things in the comments:

>And in hindsight, Digg- or its users- were some of the first to really highlight what would become many of the negative aspects of social media unleashed on the public at large that we know today. Such as the (then-hyped) "wisdom of crowds" descending into mob mentality, attention grabbing stories, manipulation and suppression, etc.

>Digg arrived around the time the Internet was moving away from being seen as something for geeks and esoteric types, even past its late-90s/early-00s "cool kids" fad-dom and was becoming something that pretty much everyone used. If it was ever meant to be something akin to "Slashdot on steroids"- and I'm not sure that it was- it quickly way beyond that into a much larger and more general-interest audience with discussions and submissions covering much wider fields of interest; basically a forerunner of where Reddit is today. By the time it over-confidently misjudged its footing and went careering over the cliff edge, Digg was- AFAICT- far, far larger than Slashdot had ever been.

Slashdot's self-moderated comment system is one of the very best, in my opinion.
Users moderate themselves alone. There is no hierarchy. User names are in very small print, almost not noticeable. No signatures or stupid tags. Also the lack of an editing feature forces users to think more before they click on "post".

what does it really matter anyway?

my point was that sone was a rare er thing, and somewhat thaat odds favoured that a lot of anons had no idea what it was, its in a different part of the internet, the 'deepweb', or a niche of a niche of that space.

I guess the defenition I usually use for deepweb things (although the term web bother's me because the 'deepweb' regions seem often more diverse than mere web stuff) is more or less a region of the internet that exists in the internet, but is not accessible to the majority of users through conventional internet access methodes, and is not a personal or private network.

So if a company sets up a password protected overlay network that's not deepweb, but a network like Tor, freenet, or cjdns/hyperboria is a deepweb entity.
>>

Like HTTPS or SSH? or do you mean Tor/Freenet.
>>
>>59426790
>What about meshnets
Meaning bittorrent and the like? If it's still communication that goes through the same channels as your web browser would (service provider, IP addresses, some type of distributed DNS or peer finding service) then I'd lump it in with the internet + special protocol category.

>or sneakernet
We usually call that "the postal service" or "a fucking forklift".

>Facebook network is not part of the clearweb/surfaceweb but it's part of the internet
If it's "part of the internet", then it's part of the internet. It can be part of whatever else definition you make up for it too.

>Like HTTPS or SSH? or do you mean Tor/Freenet.
Any of them. It's a different category altogether, it's the protocol we're talking about, not the method itself. Something that's part of the worldwide global internet is "on the internet". Something that isn't, is just "a network", regardless of how the elements of that network communicate. You can use TCP or HTTP or BitTorrent or Tor or Klingon Morse code or your own fucking protocol made from Arduinos and a bunch of wires in your garage.

Bittorrent is not a meshnet meaning things like CJDNS implementations or Byzantium linux.

Wifi to wifi connections that would function if the internet was shut off.

It's considered as a part of Google's deep neural network, especially the captha.

At the very least the NIPR intranet is publically known to be connected to the internet.
I want to explain the others, but I can't for obvious reasons.

No, in terms of the web its a piece of shit floating on the surface covered in a colony of flies.

>>59407570
More like the derp web.

It's probably considered one of the darker less known sides of the net.

Deepweb usually refers to stuff on tor and the likes. People sometimes consider private invite only forums part of the 'deepweb'
>>
>>59407570
deep web -> web places u don't want common search engines to find (like my college email server, u need to hit direct link in URL)

dark net -> illegal sites on deep web (markets for drugs, guns etc...)

>>59438621
So if I host my blog on an onionsite, that's a deepwebsite, but not in the darknet (unless its a blog about my exploits as an assasin)?

>cites wikipedia as the universal source of Truth

These definitions are dynamic, and as evidenced by this thread, differ from person to person on this board.

Simply referencing some other (reputable) website does not make you correct, Wikipedia simply has its own take on an issue, public use in the wider world has its own definition, perhaps people on lainchan or 8ch have different definitions.

I read that post, and I thought it was an interesting take, but it doesnt really change my opinion overall, and unless having a discussion with a perscibed semantical framework I shall continue to use those phrases as I see fit, whether or not Wikipedia concurs.
