Bench the person that has the same proccy as you, dubs selects any two anons to battle.
Also cpu tuning general.

What motherboard and RAM ?
I'm ready.
>>59392898
is i5 4690 any good?
>>59392888
trip 8s i think you can do whatever you want now
>>59392898
iirc it has better itm between the ihs and the actual chip so the temps should be better.
this particular chip is mediocre. still get random crashes at 4.2ghz 1.2v. if i set it to auto it sometiomes spikes to 1.28v for ~2s sometimes
Q6600 master race here

So, what you are saying is that it comes with good thermal paste, and that the chip is mediocre.
The chip that you own gets random crashes at a high and if you set it to auto in some sort of program in which I have no idea what that is, it spikes to 1.28v; which could possibly damage your CPU
am i correct?
>>59393053
sorry, i understand now that you mean the actual metal chip cover and the chip

MSI b350 tomahawk and gskill ripjaw V 3000 cas 15, the ram is only running at 2667mhz because the motherboard needs bios updates
>>59393065
yeah, the contact between the cover and the actual silicon. i use arctic mx4 between my heatsink/fan and the cpu assembly, if that makes sense.
>>59393137
Did you have to do anything special to run at 2667 and are you using one of the beta BIOS? Same board as you and I couldn't get my ram past 2400, but I didn't mess with it much because resetting the CMOS is annoying.
It definitely needs BIOS updates
Piece of shit BSODs at 4.5G on even 1.4+v

>no OC
why
>>59393243
I have the latest beta bios
only reason I don't wanna buy Ryzen is, I have a feeling that zen+ is going to be like sandy bridge was to nehelm
>>59393053
1.28v is perfectly fine for haswell desu, had my 4770K running at 4.4ghz core/cache speed for 3+ years with 1.26v
>>59393497
for 4.2 on a 4c/4t i5 though? seems excessive.
>>59393503
You would probably need a better motherboard for lower volts. It is excessive by the way, but it's not dangerous or damaging at all. What's your cache speed btw?
>>59393510
That's quite nice from an i5

still okay
shout out to all mah sandy/ivy hoodrats

could be inadequate power to the chip
either from the psu or the mobo
or you just need to keep it cooler to run at higher voltages stably
