its called hardwork and dedication and not being a retard. Do it all properly right from the start and you won't have an issues.
Not having any organization inside of a computer is usually a good indicator that you also have absolutely zero organization IRL.

Interestingly enough I know quite a number of people who are good at keeping on top of file organization but are complete shit at organizing paper and binders (mostly young) and vice versa (almost exclusively old, 45+)

what the fuck. Depends on your files and what you are storing? Make folders. Come up with a system that fits your own need. There isnt a blue print for it lol.
I keep everything I can in one giant folder. If I can't locate something immediately, it must not be that important to me.
My Unsorted folder currently has 8,000 pictures in it.

Don't get too OCD with organzing photos. Just make it Year->Month->Date and leave it at that. I've seen people try to organize it by event ("First Day At the Zoo" "Visit to the beach") and you'll go nuts that way.

Create logical drives based on their purposes. For example: games, videos, music, etc. Sort things inside by folders. Learn to use two file panel file manager like total commander.
