In terms of value you're probably right, however who would buy such a product, and would they spend so much money? Personally I'd buy it, but I deem it too expensive.

>When the alternatives are no less, like the Nvidia Shield Portable or Nintendo Switch.
They're not an alternatives.
>Plus it's a full PC.
Productivity wise, it's useless.

Don't get me wrong, it's the ultimate emulator machine, and I'd buy it if I had neetbux to burn, but it fills such a small niche at such a high price it's just not worth it, although it's probably a better purchase than a Switch.
>>
>>59396576
>Productivity wise, it's useless.
>Don't get me wrong, it's the ultimate emulator machine
I thought this role was taken by Pandora/Pyra?

What good portable hardware I can have, productivity wise?
>>
>>59396576
You deem it too expensive does not mean others do. For some it's worth the money.

Exactly, right now we don't have as powerful UMPC alternatives especially with gaming options like that.

You won't use it for work productivity, unless it's something really quick and easy to do, but browsing and music/movies are still great addition to just being a gaming device.

It is the best emulation handheld we have, true.

>>59396617
Pyra, God whenever it comes out, isn't nearly as powerful. Same like the DX, better battery life but that's it.

I doubt even the quality of the Pyra would be any better, like the Pandora, quality wise it's bad and it's extremely outdated now.

I think the Pocket will try to be as good as a productivity device that size can be, not really a good idea though, for productivity, just get a small laptop.
>>
>>59396617
>Pandora
It's shit.
>Pyra
Not released yet, and will cost a minimum of 60% more than the gpd win.

I don't know who wants to spend $300 for a portable emulator machine, the people who would spend $500 to $700 must be even less.

>>
>>59396576
You can single-cable dock it with a USB-C hub for getting real work done. Gpd win supports video over its USB C connector
>>
>>59396359
only the text editor is a little bit shitty...
>>
>>59396794
That's a good idea, it does support those USB/HDMI/Charging dongles over USB-C. Easy way to make it a full fetched desktop or connect to a TV (also has mini HDMI on it already though).

Switch is going to get the latest Nintendo IPs. gdpoo win is going to get 10 year old games that you can already emulate on your laptop. One of them does something that 5 of your existing devices don't already do better. I wonder what's the better purchase.

They are working on the Pocket.

Not really my cup of tea, I like it specially for gaming.
>>
>>59396843
We get it, you don't get the point of the device and have no need for it.
You don't even know anything about it or it capabilities, as you obviously showed us with your post.

As far as the Switch goes, it won't have any library until fall, until that it's obviously the worse purchase.

Not to mention you can't really compare the two, because the Win literary is for doing the things your big boy PCs already do better, but on the go or in bed.
>>
>>59396863
I has a better experience than most of the reviews made it seem, probably because I mostly got it for the things it's strong in.

Flaws? Shit chink QC, it's a lottery to get a good unit, I didn't have any problems with that but I know it's a big thing.
Else, probably controls take getting used to and if you aren't really tech savvy, the configuration can be frustrating I guess?

Otherwise, I can't complain because it does exactly what I wanted from it.

Revision 2 also fixed heating issues, better feeling controls, very responsive polling rate and plastic and other crashing related bugs, what have been the main concerns of people.
>>
>>59396865
Bummer. There is chink pocketchip but I want a GPD/Pandora-like design, not a full blown brick.
>>
>>59396843
>Switch is going to get the latest Nintendo IPs
Wow it's fucking nothing.
>gdpoo win is going to get 10 year old games
No, it's going to get all the PC games and all the emulated games that can run on it: Nintendo can't compete, also because the gpd can emulate everything up to the DS (still waiting for that 3DS emulator, dammit).
>that you can already emulate on your laptop.
Any laptop isn't as portable as a handheld device, and any other handheld lack the gamepad and the windows platform.

>I wonder what's the better purchase.
The Switch is an extremely limited machine, with extremely bad design, riddled with extremely severe flaws, and still doesn't have a decent game lineup.
If you want to play games on the go, for $300 you'd really better buy the gpd.
>>
Can the GDP win run Photoshop with no issues?
>>
>>59396843
>>59396969
Switch is for people who want that exact Nintendo gaming experience, right out of the box, without any extra knowledge of technology.

Also, you can't compare the two, they are for different markets and things, sure it's mostly gaming, but the way you do it it's entirely different. Not to mention, the Win is a PC.

Obviously that's the exact point of the device, that's why it exists, it literally is a small laptop with a gamepad.

Saying it shouldn't exist is like saying why we need small efficient cars if fast gas hungry ones exist.
>>
>>59396617
I red the Pyra forums the other day, when GPD Win was announced, they where all in denail, saying it can't be done or it won't be successful, nor be able to deliver in such a short time

Now you know what standards the Pandora/Pyra faggots have.

What's the ... point?

I owned one of those 10.1" Asus eee PC's back in the day. It was alright for bringing along to watch movies on trains and doing very basic things while travelling. The keyboard was a bit too small but (barely) usable.

7" just seems way to small for something with a keyboard. I'd quite frankly rather have a 6" phone and a USB keyboard or a 10" or 13" laptop.

My use for a mediocre pocket laptop which costs $600: none, and the same is true for almost everyone

But a sleek design similar to their original concept art? Absolutely. They could easily make a pocketable Mac clone and make it superior in almost every way, but they choose not to or simply don't have engineers who are capable of doing so. That's my point.

but friendo all laptops are made in two factories in china, including apple and thinkpads.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l52WQ5VXcm8

dunno, I have owned several aluminium macbooks and looking at the video I can see so many similarities, even same type of back cover with crews and legs, except the keyboard that reminds me of a thinkpad and the thing being wider in general, but fuck, even the ports are like on a mac
>>
>>59399621
has more than two ports.

>macbook clone

it's just made of an aluminum alloy and has a cut out for fingertip. there's several laptops on the market with these features. it's no clone.
>>
>>59399785
but anon mac doesn't include ports on their pcs
>>
>>59399771

but friendo he means chink shit (like we all do) as a metaphor for build quality, your chink shit is chink shit friendo, deal with it friendo and stop playing dumb friendo

>janky after 2 months and in a landfill in <1 year

he even explained it friendo.
>>

the finger grip shit came from unibody macbooks 10 years ago

What are we talking about? The Pocket or the Win?

The Win itself it great quality wise, just not QC wise.

what are you on about? How is pointing out that you're too stupid to infer what I meant "losing the argument"? You went off on a tangent and started acting like a pedant. Are you even one of the people to whom I was originally responding? I doubt it.

Just fuck off, retard—you're not smart
>>
>>59399821
and yet does it really fucking matter? it's a slot that gives you easier access to lift the screen. before it was a slot it was a lever, who really gives a shit. a clone that does not add up to.

there's literally 5 ways to design a hinge, as for round feet you don't believe apple did that first or that it's an apple exclusive do you?
>>
>>59399816
it's all chink shit, which is why the macbook's batteries like to pop like popcorn. if any laptop lasts you more than 2 or 3 years without service you're beyond lucky.

no, just noticing a dumbass, your post imply you are talking about tiny design things that are mostly preference, taste and not related to the product in any meaningful way, on a board that favors several factors over just design, like they do with thinkpads, then you start bashing on something quality, even when you don't own the item, like a butthurt intel fanboi in a amd fanboi thread, ending it with a post that you are here to discuss things and not shitpost

either you are 10/10 baiting or actually just dumb

What is the purpose of a keyboarded atom-cpu device between a a smarthone with big screen (slim, lightweight) and a 12-13 inch notebook (full-size physical keyboard, amd64 cpu, screen equivalent to 21" desktop)?
It's not 2007 anymore, we have tablets for this form-factor and they are proven to do their job well.
>>
>>59399989
it has*

>>59399992
I wonder too, but I guess it would be useful for a very niche market who need small size and an actual keyboard.
Same like the Win is favored by people wanting a emulation handheld with a little more horses behind it.
>>
>>59390058
Jesus fuck, with specs that shitty you should just get a smartphone. A compact keyboard can be bought for less than $60.
>>
>>59400009
The keyboard is still shittier than it was on netbooks 10 years ago or on Psions 20 years ago, there are no cool interesting shit like raspberry pi gpio or tablet convertible function.

>>59400061
Man, tablets who use the same SoC even melt, the SoC can't run continuously on turbo speed without throttling if it doesn't have a heatsink and fan. Even the Switch has a fan for that reason.

the current production gpd win has a 16 eu gpu hd405 @200-600MHz, same as the gpd pocket will have.

the original win was a Z8700
the current gpd win is Z8750
the gpd pocket will ship with a Z8750

not even more portable desu, the keyboard ads functionality, having it clamshell like that makes it just the same as a tablet, with a better processor set up, and a full fat operating system.

My tablet has a 7500U that runs at 3.5GHz single thread and 3.0GHz with all 4 threads under load
