XFCE is the absolute best desktop environment, right balance between usability and resource usage. It blows everything else out of the water. Openbox is also an acceptable answer.

GNOME is for babbys.
KDE is fags who like 99% CPU utilization.
LXDE is for tards who like win 98 interfaces.
MATE is for Spanish fags who want to relive the Gnome 2 glory days.
Cinnamon is an XFCE wannabe without the ability to customize.
