Why would I seed /g/?
It's a service no one pay me for, and I already have adequate speeds to what is currently provided.
How would I even go about seeding? Do I need to know the IP's of those wishing to access data?
Then redirect them to my home server?
How much should I seed?
Can I only do select parts?
How often would I have to check to see if by current version is up to date?
This would all get pretty network heavy. Sure Fido net was born from this principle, but I think I'd rather buy a 4chan pass.

General rule of thumb, 20:1 ratio or 6 months, which ever comes first.
If I hit 20:1 really fast, usually for a week minimum.
Rare & unusual torrents I'll keep going .... well. Pretty sure I have a few that have been on my home seedbox for five years or more now. Some of them are over 300:1 ratio.
I had been running most everything off a 750 GB HDD for a long time. About 14-16 months ago I retired two 2 TB HDDs from a main system that had been in service for over three years, so I stuck them into an external enclosure that holds 2 HDDs and jacked them into the seedbox over a USB 2 connection. Haven't run out of space yet, but getting close. When I do, I'll just hunt up the oldest/most common torrents & remove them in favor of new stuff.
There's close to a terabyte of old Kickass torrents I need to back up & delete now that KAT is gone. Probably keep some of the really weird & rare stuff and reseed it on another tracker when I get to that point.
The main thing is, I've been torrenting for so long, there's not a whole lot of stuff I need anymore. Of course I pick up new & interesting things when I run across them, but I literally have 20 terabytes of media, mostly flac & anime, plus about 100,000 books .... so, kind'a pointless for me to keep collecting more until I get through all of that. Still have stuff I picked up on emule back before utorrent was invented.

i seed all the time and i seed only when i fap and i fap all the time
Just checked my average active seed time on PTP and found that it is approaching 3 years... kind of depressing...
>>59381184
We can always leech off idiots who don't know what seeding is and forget to turn it off after they're finished downloading.
I would but with my internet (Australia) I upload around 50kb/s at the very best so I don't really see the point
>>59380925
I have a 60GB data cap so I only seed small files, but I'd love to seed more.
Most of the time no, but occasionally I will let a torrent run and upload a few hundred gigs
>>59380956
Is this real?
I breed
naw
