What is the most /g/ approved method of printing?

I know you guys buy Chinese counterfeit ink but what about the printer itself. What has the best "bang" for your buck and works best to find cheap Chinese ink for?
>>
Cheap laser printer

Such as?

What is the thinkpad of printing is what i m asking basically. I've never owned a printer before.

I'd recommend first looking for cheap ink/toner and then buying a printer that uses that.

Brother makes good printers though, without the bullshit warranty-based kill switches.

If you don't need colour, don't get an inkjet, either.

I only need b&w
>>
>>59380109
Absolutely buy the printer in your picture, wiggle the print head around a bit till you get an error, then call in to support and get a different model for nothing. Then use it to sign up for the Instant Ink program, use a promotion code, hand out your referral code for a bunch of people to sign up and get several free years of service.

Monchrome laser printer are the way to go.

I went with the Brother DCP-7065DN
>reliable
>high print speed
>automatic duplex
>automatic document feeder
>looks amazing
>love the noise it makes
Cost was high, and toner isn't cheap either, but it just works so well, in a way that all my previous ink printers never managed to achieve.
>>
>>59380631
Do what I said, look for cheap toner first.
>>
I bought an HP 4100 MFP from Craigslist or eBay (can't remember) for ~$50. Got a few thousand prints out of it, just got my first set of toner for $30, supposedly good for about 10k prints. Not bad all in all. I've printed a few textbooks.

Make sure to get one with low print count and a duplexer if you buy one.
>>
>>59380680
I'll just buy Chinese ink. Unless it's somehow non-universal?

ink-jet is dead unless you need photo quality. If you do, go to a physical shop.
Ink prices are fucking atrocious and every time you turn the printer on it uses a fuckton of ink just to clean the nozzle.

I've had good experience with used Kyocera business laser printers.
Whatever you settle on, make sure to buy one with ethernet. That way you'll never have to worry about drivers.

Recently, the Kyocera ecosys 6021cdn (laser, color) went on sale for 140€ a while ago. Pretty happy with it.
Pic related.
>>
>>59380709
Toner cartridges are particular to models, there isn't a universal 'toner' cartridge that'll fit everything. So you need to get chink cartridges that fit a specific printer.

Also stop confusing ink and toner

consider one of these
several third party "continuous ink" systems out there, not only do they provide far longer lasting, larger tanks, the ink is also far cheaper

>>
>>59380747
well, if you really wanna fudge around with your printer that much, why not.

What's the $/page with that kind of setup?
My ecosys does about 2500 pages per toner, a toner is ~55€, so 0,022€ per page.

>>59380109

>>59380777
well, going of what i have;
- a standard black cartridge is 600 pages, $50, and apparently 12mL (they don't list this in official specs) ($0.083/page)
- a 100mL refill bottle (any colour) for my system is $15 (going off the same yield, this would do 5000 pages, so $0.015)
>>
>>59380940
>>59380777
oh, i will say though, setting this up and handling refills isn't something everyone will want to deal with
not to mention the system itself does cost money as well, so you need to print enough to make up for that

if you don't print a huge amount, a laser printer should be your first consideration, i don't deny that

I want to print like 3-4 papers a month or so. B/w.

How does the chink ink thing work? Is it hard to inject

>>

to be clear why how often you print matters
inkjets require periodic maintenance, if you just leave them unplugged for long periods, you risk ink drying inside the heads, ruining them
the maintenance involves wasting some ink, so the longer you leave it alone, the less pages you'll get out of it

i don't know anything about laser/toner printers, mind, so i'm not sure if they have anything similar, if they don't then that'd be an advantage for those who don't print often
>>
>>59381113
You said inkjet...

Which is cheaper and easier for ink?
>>
>>59381143
Just get laser because the Jews make it so inkjets need expensive color ink in them even if you're only ever printing b/w
>>

This looks neat for casual printing at home.
Especially if you have different OS running.
How's Linux support?
And how would you use wireless printing?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUPS
> CUPS allows printer manufacturers and printer-driver developers to more easily create drivers that work natively on the print server. Processing occurs on the server, allowing for easier network-based printing than with other Unix printing systems. With Samba installed, users can address printers on remote Windows computers, and generic PostScript drivers can be used for printing across the network.
>>
>>59382030
Can this be done with USB printers?
>>
>Toner
Enjoy your cancer.
>>
My gf have a samsung laser multifunction printer and that shit uses incredible expensive, rechargeable toner cartridges. You can recharge the toner, but you have to replace the chip in order to the printer reconoce it, wich is expensive. I heard that you can pay to some chinese "hacker" to give you a custom program that allows you to reset the chip (so you dont have to replace it) or makes the printer ignore the "used" toner.

You guys know were I can find more info about this things?

>>59382086
in principle, yes. But you still need a driver to sit in between the USB printer and the CUPS server.
Then you can print with any device.

What cheap printer do you recommend for...

HP Laserjet 4

Basically this. I've got an samsung ml2165 hooked up to my fileserver for network printing. Bought the printer new 4 years ago and have refilled the toner 3 times now. Toner is cheap as fuck and the printer is pretty fast and clean.

>>
>>59384722
Yea I really like mines anon. I have yet to change the toner. It prints quickly and with high quality.
Laser is worth it, costs basically the same as an ink one. I trust Samsung with printers, if this one ever breaks I'll buy another one.
