I'm thinking of using the x99chipset motherboard with a Intel Broadwell-E because all support quad channel memory and it seems like the only option with that support.
I'd like to know what /g/ thinks about my decision

I think you probably don't know what you are doing so go ahead.

do it

>x99
Literally why.

wtf?
performance is a good criteria.
focusing on quad channel is as stupid as focusing on megahertz.

Quad channel is pointless, just settle for a ryzen
Fuck x99 go Ryzen
Zen3 is expected to have 48 Pcie lanes and support 8 channel RAM with an additional 35% IPC increase over Zen

in 2039.
Does quad-channel even have any fucking applications for gaming?

not at all, games arent heavily threaded for cores, the memory subsystem is no different.
Severely diminishing returns to be had with more than 2 channels of memory.
I bought x58 back in the day, because more money than sense, and even then there was fuck all benefit.
There are a couple of very limited use cases that benefit from the greater memory bandwidth, but if you're one of those users, you wouldn't be asking the question.
tl;dr - Regardless of whether you got Zen or Kaby Lake, quad channel is careface.

Gotta push up that stock price so he can sell though.
