Ever since I grew up on slow computers, I've been on war path against slow technology. I hate high-level abstractions on top of abstractions on top of virtual machines on top of frameworks on top of abstractions making my applications and web pages take an extra 5 seconds to become responsive. I had lag. I hate when things don't work instantly.

So I'm the type of guy that will reinvent the wheel to save 3 instructions per loop and increase program speed by 0.00001%. Because dammit software is getting bloated as fuck and I hate shitty fucking slow computers.

If you are programming things like chemistry simulations that run on clusters you need C. If you a programming a web back end Ruby is fine. Then again if you are Google you'd need C again.
