Why did Apple remove the headphone jack?
>>59369120
to be brave
>>59369120
Headphone jack cost money and if they can cut a couple bucks from the phone, they definitely would
>>59369120
To sell more shit, including that dongle.

>>59369120
Because they own the Beats brand and want to promote the sales of Beats wireless headphones.
>>59369142
The dongle is included in the box for free.

Yeah, and unlike the phone, you can actually fucking lose it.

>/threading yourself
>/threading yourself on a stupid meme
>and being objectively wrong
You have to try to be that fucking faggy
>>59369242
>implying people wouldn't lose a phone
>>59369120
So they can sell more expensive dongles and wireless earplugs, both which are easy to lose, forcing users to buy them again.
A barometer or something is in the place where the headphone jack used to be.
>>59369120
It takes up internal space and their userbase was increasingly switching to wireless peripherals
Because every $100 to $1000 you spend on IEMs is dollars not spend on Apple products.
>>59369291
Another way to track, how thoughtful.
Biggest reason is because Apple can't innovate anymore, so they pull shit like this to make people think that they still do. Le Steve Jobs dying meme actually has some truth to it.

Also Apple hasn't had any original ideas in nearly half a decade. They've just been recycling ideas that they've had in a drawer somewhere. Take for example this iPhone 2G matte black prototype. Looks a lot like an iPhone 7, right? The iPad Pros with the pencil came from those Newton pad things that were an epic failure. Even the idea to replace the superior Magsafe connector with USB C came from reversible Lightening connectors. Hell, they even stole the touch bar thing from Lenovo. Apple is only good at eating its own shit and the shit of others, then shitting it back out and marketing it as delicious candy for the masses. Fuck Apple.
>>59369570
I agree, but Apple always manages to work out the idea in reality so well. And even if it isn't that good, it still gets marketed (well) and sold.

DRM
>get rid of removable batteries so you can no longer truly deactivate your phone at will
>remove the headphone jack so you can no longer bypass the built-in microphone when making calls with an external mic
>>59369120
Do you know how much money Apple gets from people using these third-party cables that are used under Apple patents and the additional incentive to shill their airpods?
Thats why.
>muh space saving
Phones are too thin as is with people constantly buying covers so their phones dont feel like palming a credit card.
>muh water resistance
Samsung Galaxy S7 has the same IP68 rating with an exposed jack.
>muh cost savings
It's a goddamn iPhone
>>59369806
Apple never had removable batteries in the iPhone from the start. They didn't get rid of removable batteries, they never used them in the first place.
>>59369120
because they could
>>59369906
Exactly my friend
>>59369207
>for free
are you stupid?
>>59369120
So pigment monkeys like you would buy shitty bluetooth in ears.
>>59369120
To forcefully moving technology to new heights, again.
>>59369120
Because courage just has to be taken once in a while…
>>59369120
to get a cut from every headphone you buy that has to use their connector or wireless chip
>>59369120
because they're ahead of the curve, as always
>>59369120
Because their customer base are idiots who think removing a useful feature to shave a mm or two off of phone thickness is somehow "revolutionary", as if a normal person who doesn't obsess over trends would even ever notice.
Selling them more dongles is just a happy coincidence.
