Most of a SIM card is just plastic anyway for people to be able to hold it better.
Doesn't seem like a milestone to make the few bytes that are stored on it smaller in physical size.
You could probably embed hundreds of these directly on to an IoT chip.
Sim cards are small enough, focus on something interesting.

Verizon would implement this in a heartbeat and claim they have to do it because otherwise the phone would be too heavy and too large to hold.
