I'm trying to install a .tar.gz program on arch. it isn't available on the aur and it is only available in this format. How do I do this? I literally cannot find anyone who has this information.

That's an archive, like 7z or rar. You're supposed to unpack it first.
>>59356450
How do I install it after I unpack it?
>>59356466
Usually./configure
make
make install
But there will probably be an INSTALL file that you should read. Also

When i unpack it I get a folder. In the folder there is a shell script. Is this what im suppose to use. if so what command do i use to execute it?

>Arch
Well that would be your first problem.
Arch handholding claims another victim.
If you don't know what .tar.gz is you probably shouldn't be using Arch
if README exists, read it.
If running "install whatever.tar.gz" doesn't work, your system might be low on memory. Try downloading more RAM to proceed, I've had this problem before.

Ironically because of the distro being rolling release and the AUR, Arch users are probably the least likely to run into using tar balls.

So then is there no answer for my question. If you don't know the answer can you direct me to some documentation that explains it well? I know what a .tar.gz file is, now at least but I'm having trouble installing it.
BTW there is no read me

It seems like your problems are twofold...
1. You don't have the slightest fucking clue what you're doing with even the most basic of Linux tasks, which brings us to...
2. Why in the fuck are you running something like Arch if you're barely capable of finding the power button?
